"In the new, sixth-generation Camaro... a lot is happening down below, where the front struts and rear links keep the tires’ contact patches firmly and evenly glued to the pavement and the car pointed precisely where the driver intends. Some competitors seem tuned to beat up their occupants in a way that places a theatrical 'sportiness' above actually controlling wheel and body motions. The Camaro seems to be doing everything it can to prevent abusing the driver.

"For the first time, the V-8 has a worthy understudy. General Motors, purveyor of so many lackluster six-cylinders in so many models for so many years, has never made such an outstanding V-6 as the 3.6-liter that is new in the Camaro. We found ourselves comparing it to the original 1991 Acura NSX’s mill."

I was gonna upvote that last comment but they are developing that 10-speed automatic.

Right now I'd say Chevy guys are pretty content with the status quo. Ford has made their choices on how to make, market, and sell their stuff, and now it's on them to execute that strategy as best as they can.

Ew ccap, that's sacrilege. The rivalry is what drives the product.

Hahaha Just saying..

Make something unique that will just eat everything from Eurpoe for the next decade+. Like a mix of a Veyron/LaFerrari/P1/918 but with the resources from two major companies who already have some fun stuff.

I mean Chevy has one BADASS Z06 and Ford is coming out with their GT. Could you imagine if they put those two technologies together..First off, we'd be talking about a twin turbo Ecoboost pushrod ;) lol

I'm talkin' continental rivalry here not just within our borders.

No no no no no. That last thing American automakers want is more overlap, more brands. GM and Ford have learned their lessons and a potential merger at this point is just impossible.

There is no way they could reconcile spending so much money to differentiate them selves.

They've gone their own routes, and we won't see much extensive redesigns from Ford until D6 comes along. While GM is rapidly launching thorough redesigns.

The Z06 already is defeating Europeans. And from the looks alone, the GT is sure to be vaunted.

I like the thought of speculation, but in this case, it's just not possible. Ford and GM have totally different priorities right now. For example, Ford's right now having to contend with keeping the cash cow running, while GM is on an aggressive schedule to release new product. And they're doubling down on money to do so.

Ford has to get around to fixing key areas. D6 will have to bring massive weight reduction that the Omega, Aplha, Delta, Epsilon and Chi platforms are already bringing.

Then totally looking at their EcoBoost branding. It's totally irrelevant now to call their engines EcoBoost, because it refers to DI and turbos. Technology which has diffused everywhere. Where's the differentiation in that? Superflous marketing.

Even the continental rivals rarely consider working together. It's because they know what the score is.

Whoa Whoa Whoa... I am NOT talking about a merger AT ALL! Just a joint PROJECT.

You honestly wouldn't WANT to see two AMERICAN powerhouses build something special to take out all the snobby Euros????

I am going to "project" my hand across yo face if you suggest that again. Ford and GM are already giving the finger to snobby euros. A joint project between automakers responsible for the Corvette Stingray, Camaro Z/28, the ATS-V and CTS-V, the Boss 302, the GT350, and the new GT would be too many chefs in the kitchen.

It creeps me out enough when people do cross-swaps with engines. Some sort of mid-engine Chevord Corvestang would make me want to jam my dick down a drain disposal.

Nice to know they finally produced a 6 cylinder that is not "lackluster."
