I am a huge fan of Mazda products.

If I only had money, I would have a vintage Alfa in the garage!

Obviously I am in a Japanese and Italian frame of mind today.  There is an autocross in the south which is Axis Vs. Allies, where Germany, Italy and japan take on American and British cars.

I really find the 1969-1970 Boss 302 to be one of the best looking post war cars built by Ford.

I love this body style charger, but the 66-67 and 71-74 cars are also really, really gorgeous also.

This is why I was trying to get su to think about non traditional (not mainstream Camro/firebird/Grand national/Vette) GM  tuff as part of the Carzy Uncle thread. GM made lots of really cool stuff that si just a little bit outside of the mainstream thought of car guys.

Very much so.  A 1959 Buick convertible, a Datsun 240 Z, a Ferrari 250 GTO, A brand new Chevroelt SS sedan, and a 1939 Supercharged Graham.  All cool in their own way.

Love all of them.  The Mustang II Cobra reminds me of a friends car in high school, lots of good times in those old days.

I still want to build a 93 Cobra R clone.

This Builder takes a Mazda MX-5 and builds these English Style Roadsters.

mitsuoka.jpg

Mitsuoka Himiko

The Mitsuoka Himiko is a Japanese sports car designed and built by Mitsuoka. It is named after Himiko, an obscure shaman queen of Yamataikoku in ancient Wa. In the UK it is known as the Mitsuoka Roadster.

Based on the Mazda MX-5 NC, Mitsuoka replaces most of the body panels, fits Fibre-reinforced plastic panneling, leather seats and extends the wheelbase front of the A-pillar to generate the long bonnet line reminiscent of English roadsters such as the Jaguar XK120 and particularly the Morgan Aero 8. Designed by Takanori Aoki, the exterior theme of the Himiko is said to mimic a 'ship riding the high seas cruising majestically as one with the waves'. Transmission and roof options are similar to the MX-5 with the option of either a 6 speed automatic transmission with manual shifting or a 6 speed manual transmission. Each Mitsuoka vehicle is handmade by just 45 skilled craftsmen at the Japanese Mitsuoka factory in Toyama City, Japan.

Found this on the Auction site, shocked at the high price it sold for $117,700 but then only 1200 miles, pristine and still on the Original Goodyear VR50 tires it came with from the factory.

The one I always loved, 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe in Maroon.

MonteCarloSSAerocoupe.jpg

Only 200 Built to meet Nascar rules for competition. Talk about a lovely rare bird, rarer than the Grand National GNX of which 547 were built.

The 2 generations of the 1960s A-Body from GM (1964-1967 & 1968-1972) and the last generation of GM's G-Body (1978-1987,1988)  have got to be one of my favorite muscle car stylings of all time.  And that would be across all the brands that used these platforms. It dont matter if it be Chevy or Pontiac or Oldsmobile or Buick.  Awesome stuff!

Call it the opposite of a Corvette.

If the Corvette packs a huge V8 in a front mid-engine configuration powering the rear wheels, the Alpine has a diminutive 4 cylinder in a rear mi-engine layout powering the rear wheels. (For it to be 100% the opposite, it have to be powering the front wheels...)

One thing for sure is that  both Alpines (new and old) are awesome little race cars.

I want me one. The new one.  I could park it next to my Fiat 124 Abarth.  (the new one as well.)
