Maybach couldn't even keep itself open as its own brand...

I'm surprised that trucking company hasn't gotten a tap on the shoulder from Mercedes-Benz yet.

Even funnier.... I browsed their website and they use almost exclusively Volvo trucks and not Freightliners...

Different markets.  S-Class Maybach is all about soft, posh, silent.  Sure they have good horsepower... but that isn't the point... the point is the built in champagne cooler in the back.

V-Series/Blackwing are performance vehicles.

Both have their place.

I would love a CT6-V Blackwing, but I certainly wouldn't refuse an S-Class Maybach either.  I LOVE the two-tone they can come in.

@David : you only show 1 factory paint job, tho Robert hit all 3.

Most factory 2-tone jobs follow hard body lines or have delineating trim (ala the F-150).
I just find the Maybach's 'break line' to be arbitrary & awkward, esp how it hits the headlights. Doesn't look factory to me, it looks like a 'one-off'.

Well Maybachs are supposed to be one-offs. They’re sold as bespoke cars like Rolls and Bentley. You don’t buy one off the lot, you order to your exacting standards.

True, but that type of paint theme and scheme  exemplifies Porsche and its image.   Something similar to what Dodge (Mopar) and their muscle cars new and classic.

Look how boring GM/Chevrolet got even with their 4 door MUSCLE CAR...

2016 Chevy SS color chart | Chevy SS Forum

The colour pallet was diverse enough.  But there was something missing.  The blue and reds were dynamic but something was amiss.  They look lifeless on this car. . Both greens did not suit this car too well.  The greys and white should have not even been offered.

But somehow, over at Dodge they got it right.

On those Mopars, the purple looks like it belongs. On many others though, it just looks like a tacky aftermarket job (like on every “Uber” car out there). It doesn’t go with everything, much how red doesn’t belong on just any car. Just my personal taste.

About the SS, you’re missing one color.

I dont like purple on most cars either. Other than the Mopars. Although one Mopar I dont like purple on IS the Prowler oddly enough.  I used to like it. I got over it. I prefer a yellow Prowler nowadays.

On the 911 I posted, I kinda like it.   Both Midnight Purple Skylines are 2 die for!

Both Mercedes' cars are doable in purple. Although these are wraps I believe.

The Volvo, like a mid 1990s Pontiac Sunfire

is a hard NO!

But the point is:

That many folk like purple cars of all shapes and sizes, brands and it dont matter where on the money scale they are in...

Yes. The Orange Blast colour for the SS was a blast for sure, (the colour came after the initial launch as my pic was from the original launch colour pallet for the SS)

The Chevy SS colors I liked were the greens...I think they had 2-3 different greens over their short run.

My favorite current Mopar performance car colors are F8 Green and Octane Red.

Octane Red can look purplish in some light.

The Challenger looks good on 99% of the colour pallet Dodge has for it!

Sometimes I want a Plum Crazy one.

Sometimes I want that Go Mango Challneger I posted earlier with the two black racing stripes. Other times I want that same orange with an all black hood. Sublime Green with an all black hood is my go to for the Challenger, but that F8 Green looks awesome too right about now.

Sometimes I just wanna sing the Blues with "my" Challenger.  Other times I just wanna be like Johnny Cash with the Chally and be dressed all in black.

Other times, Arrest Me Red does wonders for my soul if I owned a red Challenger!

Since awhile back we've talked about and seen 1980s two toned paint jobs. Those 3 Chevys (Bel Air maybe but def Caprices), I wonder if these iconic 1980s Chevys are considered two toned?

Some might not find that grey bottom two tone look appealing. I like it a lot I must say.   About the ONLY time I like grey on a car.  I may not like that red stripe around the middle however.

Hi all,

It's been a while I've posted here. Hope things are alright where everyone is at.

I don't know if I should make a separate thread yet for a potential topic.

Has anyone worked at a car dealership here?

Best,

Suave.

I sold at a dealership for a year and a half but it was not a major new brand so most of what I was forced to see was terrible close to trash used cars.

the fun part about where I was it was a small satellite store to the main dealership stores; it was more like a mom and pop that unfortunately at times was subject to the rules of the Kremlin.  Spent a lot of time just hanging out in the service bays shooting the breeze with the guys there; I think that's where I learned the most about what goes on at a dealership....lots of characters but many good people.

It's kind of a 'nobody can win' environment; except for a very few who are good at making bonuses off others or other parts of the organization...or if you are part of the people that own the dealership.

Today was a day when having a pickup truck would have been useful.   I want to replace my back sliding screen door-- it's a standard size, 35.x X 77.x inches, lightweight.   But it's at least 4-5 inches too long to fit in my Jeep w/ the back seat folded down and driver's seat forward.   If I had a flip-up rear window like my old WJ GC had, it would have fit.    Ordered one from Home Depot, the delivery charge is more than the item itself...c'est la vie..

In doing measurements, I realized the cargo area of my GC with the backseat folded down is actually about 10 inches longer than the length of the bed of my neighbor's Ridgeline w/ the tailgate up.

As much as I dislike white for being too dull and mainstream, I saw and sat in a white Challenger R/T Scat Pack in the dealer showroom a few years ago.. with a black shaker hood scoop, gloss black wheels, and a black interior w/ bright red seats and red door inserts.  Love the red seats. And a manual..was fantastic.

Very nice.  I believe they had alloys as an option and it would like nice with some aluminum wheels.  And a hood ornament worked well on these, too.

It definitely raised eyebrows and won't be forgotten, but, after its successful launch via the restrained but very attractive first Seville, I always got heartburn over this one.

I love the Chevy SS made for GM in Australia by Holden.  And this color looks great on it.  I take notice when I see one on the road.  It has timeless styling (great from all angles) and, in my book, it's even nicer to look at than a Bimmer.

All nice photos but thank you for this one, whereby a really big and "edgy" Grand Prix gets whittled down to a very manageable Grand Prix - sort of like a drop from a full-size Cadillac into a Seville, but not quite that drastic.

From '78 to '80, this G-body was possibly the nicest one, getting even better in '81.  But, then, that same year, the reskinned Cutlass Supreme coupe variants gave it a run for its money.  At that point, it became a question of subtleties, customer preference, and customer loyalty.  Except for "CCC," you couldn't go wrong.

- - - - -

Here's an '82 GP shown from a dynamic point of view:

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRYiyWyIuOJtS823DU3AuD

It stayed true to the inspiration of its '73 to '77 dashboard:

Loved this car.  Probably best when, of the engine choices, equipped with Pontiac's 4.3 L V8.

Don't get me started ...
