WILL THEY BE BACK AFTER A CURE IS FOUND FOR COVID-19?

There's not been a cure for any of the multiple, previous coronavirus's yet, don't expect one for this one either.

Everyone, we have a newer deadly strain 10 times stronger and Florida is our Ground Zero for it. Please be careful.

It's a big ole wing and I'm really glad it's molded on and not a tacky(albeit functional) raised one.

So true, my concern was it would be a Ricer type that has been used by Cadillac in past versions while testing on the Nuremburg ring.

This does look like it is better incorporated here.

Read the link; that's the strain that's been here all along since Jan, it's not a "new" variant.

In the report, the strain has mutated to have stronger protein spikes that make it 10 times stronger on hooking in the lungs and to blood and causing problems.

The hooks are what make this strain/variant even worse.

Yeah, I think the molded spoiler looks waaaaay more suitable for a luxury car. If they want to rip out the back seats, insulation, make a fixed seat and have a hardcore street car like a CLK Black Series(I know that's a coupe), then I'm all for it and I understand. For a fast street car with a full interior and luxury amenities out the @ss, keep it a smaller spoiler.

It isn't worse, it's just more susceptible to air transmission(at least that's how i read it).

Interesting law suite by GM against FCA about corruption in the UAW. Seems FCA has some big problems ahead of themselves. GM is accusing FCA of bribing the UAW leadership putting GM at a disadvantage in labor negotiations.

OUCH Rueters is reporting that auto companies are going to have to cut labor as governments and fleets have stopped buying.

62% of the 2.8 million auto's sold in 2019 to fleets went to rental car companies and Hertz is now bankrupt with an uncertain future as it dumps it global fleet of auto's on the used auto market.

On the other hand those in the market for a low mileage used auto might find some tasty deals as Hertz unloads.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-autos-fleet-sales-analysis/slumping-fleet-sales-weigh-on-u-s-auto-market-idUSKBN2411NH

GM, Ford, Nissan and FCA account for the bulk of the 16.4% of US auto sales in 2019 to the fleets. This worked out to 22% of GM's 2019 sales were to Fleets, 28% of Nissan 2019 sales were to fleets. Neither Ford or FCA were willing to divulge their fleet sales details for 2019.

With continued Auto Sales Blues, Automakers are ramping up Coronavirus Size discounts.

As an example, a sales executive in Manhattan bought a new Jeep Gladiator for $48,000 after Jeep discounted it $5,000 off the Employee price and gave a 7yr no interest loan.

Discounts across the auto industry are averaging $4,441 per auto right now. This is on top of 0% financing for 84 months.

This sadly is just the start. Rumors out of Dearborn are suggesting  a production cut of about 20 percent of all models after they catch up to pre Covid inventory. This might the first year we see a sale slide on trucks......

Also hearing pretty much all Equinox models will be coming out of Mexico- not good for those who work in Canada......

Lack of Auto shows might not be a bad thing...as we really are not going to see too much new for a while- The Focus has started to switch to EV now..

I would assume most GM models will just see good refreshes for the moment..

I see to get my fix of classic cars somehow....the Dream Cruise here in Detroit was cancelled.......

Here in Washington state all the Octoberfest festivities have been canceled since no large outdoor or indoor gatherings are being allowed. While sad at first as there is a German Town here Leavenworth that is awesome to visit in the mountains had one of the best Octoberfest with so much beer to try.

Yet now the focus will be to do mini Oktoberfest's with family in the home. A refocus is what will be needed and a change in marketing to keep folks interested and buying.

Airbus is saying huge employment cuts are coming. Boeing has done it here, we are entering a new era of employment and a change in how we do business to stay safe.

I am thinking virtual visits to auto museums will have to suffice till we can get back out physically.

Stay physical at home to stay in shape all.

I don't do beer.  Never acquired a taste for it.  That said, Leavenworth, WA is indeed a cute town.  Have been about 3 to 5 times.  I have typically eaten the German comfort food, pastries, chocolates, and those sorts of things.  And, whichever route you choose to get there, the drive to and and fro is also beautiful.

Speaking of food, I went to a buffet today. A first ... on the first.  I had a feeling that they would be doing the serving and have face masks and gloves.  Fine with me. I'm all about choosing which items I want and to come back if I want more! There were paper cups for coffee/tea and plastic cups for soft drinks, juices, etc.  Seats were spaced further apart.  You could tell the employees were happy to be back at work.  I left the lady a respectable cash tip.  I have not been to a buffet in 5 months, so it knocked the wind out of me.  I had to lay down!

Everyone, we have a newer deadly strain 10 times stronger

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8471421/Mutated-version-coronavirus-stronger-spike-proteins.html

I read this exact article the other day and nowhere does it state that this mutated strain is deadly or deadlier than this virus, that originated in a Chinese lab, has been. The article states the contrary in the last bullet point at the beginning of it, "This does not, however, appear to make patients any sicker or less sick", so they got you with the big bold headline. This mutated strain that's been here since May still almost entirely and severely infects the elderly and people with an underlying condition/comorbidity. It's why people with diabetes or heart disease are a high risk group as they have a higher level of the ACE-2 Enzyme that viruses like this SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus attach to as a receptor in the human body, which translates to more antigens and viral load count. Another excerpt from the article states, "The mutated version of the virus, dubbed G614 - a change from D614 - is a tiny change in its genetic make-up".

Unfortunately, all viruses mutate to stay vital, it's why there are three main types of the Influenza virus as A, which is constantly changing and the one responsible for our annual flu bugs, B found only in humans and C which is rare and usually not a severe infection. Each of the three Flu types have several different sub-types that have been reported for over 500 years.

First, no proof that the Covid-19 was laboratory made (conspiracy theory). There is plenty of evidence that it came from Bats and yet how did the bats get it. Scientists are still not sure.

Agree, it does not make you sicker, but the stronger spikes do not break as easily as before so recovery will be harder as it sticks in the blood causing clots and in the lungs. Every day my friend we see more and more ways that Covid-19 hurts people.

Yes it is hard on those with pre-existing conditions and strong in shape people should recover best, but we are also seeing a huge up tick in infections among the youth to 20's something crowd.

Course does not help with idiot's having Covid-19 infection parties thinking herd immunity is the best way to deal with a virus that is changing to survive itself and Humans finding a way to react to it to stay alive also. Sweden has acknowledged that the herd immunity is not helping their country.

End result was to just share the info with everyone and wish everyone to stay safe and healthy.

No need to take unwarranted risks.

Very true, all the Buffet's here in Washington state are still closed and the note on the Chinese / Mongolian buffet by me in Lynnwood is they are closed permanently. Old Country Buffet's that were here are gone as the franchise owner went bankrupt due to Covid-19.

Worst yet is Airbus has stated it needs to lay off 10's of thousands of workers and the unions are saying no. HELLO IDIOT UNIONS, No one is buying planes, no sales, no profits, no money to pay the workers. Boeing is handing out pink slips as it slows all production.

I suspect the Auto Industry will have a heavy contraction this fall. I believe we could see a 25% reduction in work force.

I am appreciating companies where the CEO and Board are foregoing their salaries this year, have stated no pay raises or bonuses and froze hiring as they have committed to not laying off any employees during this pandemic.

Very happy I have a job right now. I feel for those here and everywhere that have lost jobs. I do believe we are at the start of a global contraction and change in education / job training that will change the way we work and move about.

QUESTION for EVERYONE:

With Covid-19 and Shelter in Place, have you come to better know your neighbors?

I have read this morning in multiple stories in the news that one affect of our current pandemic and the return of knowing who your neighbors are. Something that was very common in the 50's and 60's of knowing who lives around you.

One example was a cul-d-sac where the families has social distance, but gathered with their BBQ's and had a group dinner and talked at a distance.

I honestly have seen my neighbors more, but do not really know them any more than I did the last 21yrs of living here in my house.

I have been very amical and social with my neighbours before Covid.  Since we moved into our home actually a decade plus ago.

All my neighbours, on both sides, in front, in the back, 2-3-4-5 houses down in all directions, we are all friendly to each other and we look after each other's back when one of us is on vacation etc.  Its super cool.  But at the same time, sometimes, I wanna be anti-social after a loooooong day at work, but I have to say hello...

With me, I kinda have no choice but to be social. All around.  I cant shop in my neighborhood in peace. LOL

1. Im a social butterfly by nature with always a smile on my face.

2. People in general know me from the restaurant as my restaurant is EXACTLY 10 kilometers from my home. (about 6 miles)

3. I also coach my daughter's  city (more like town) league softball team for the last 4 years.  I help with my boy's city league baseball team for the last 5 years.

Combine all that together and Im pretty well known in my town's circle.

My suburban street is pretty quiet and most people keep to themselves, but are socialable enough.

My Ukranian neighbors on the left moved out and put their house up for sale a month or so ago.  The house on the right that had been empty since I moved here was renovated and flipped last year, sold a couple months ago, have chatted over the fence w/ the 2 Honda Millennials (Ridgeline and Civic) that bought it are decent enough, the guy works from home in software but in QA.   The elderly woman in the house behind me is pretty crabby, only talked w/ her a couple times in the 3 years here.  The couple next to them on each side seem decent, chatted w/ them a couple times.   The people in the 3-4 houses across the street I've chatted briefly with when I've been outside working in the yard..the guy across the street has a late model Mustang, and the guy next to him has a boat, always working on it in the summer, 2 houses down is an older couple w/ a dead Grand National in the garage and a dead Lincoln Mk VII LSC in the driveway, talked cars w/ them a couple times, the guy next to them has an S2000, across the street from them is a Subaru fan w/ a Legacy and two Outbacks, next to the Mazda fan..

I never said it wasn't a nasty virus, but it's not as deadly as first thought by doctors and scientists and your borderline fear mongering post leading with, "Everyone, we have a newer deadly strain 10 times stronger" doesn't do anything but create more worry and fear in some. We all hear about it and read about it daily.

The virus did originate in China near Wuhan from bats living in deep caves that were known to carry this particular SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus (FYI, Covid-19 is the disease that this Coronavirus causes) that the crazy "Bat Lady" scientist retrieved and were studying in the lab in Wuhan at the Wuhan Virology Institute, that's not a conspiracy.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-chinas-bat-woman-hunted-down-viruses-from-sars-to-the-new-coronavirus1/

Why were the Chinese studying bats with such a nasty contagious virus that first wasn't able to be transmitted to humans, but now it is?!

Yes, there is a large uptick in cases in younger individuals throughout the country, but that is very likely because of the younger demographic in the 20-44 age bracket who were protesting, rioting and looting all around the country, during a Pandemic, all last month gathering around each other as well as bars where this younger misguided generation were congregating with no face masks or social distancing. We had random individual bars in Old Town Scottsdale violating the social distancing and face mask requirement and they were immediately fined by the city with misdemeanor charges and shut down, so violations don't go untouched here.

Interesting that all your links are from the Fake News leader CNN after you say that I get my info. from "Faux News" Fox News when ZERO of my past links have been from FN. So maybe take your own advice and look outside of CNN for your News as well, my friend.

Here's a site you should visit often. https://www.doh.wa.gov/Emergencies/NovelCoronavirusOutbreak2020COVID19/DataDashboard

And FINALLY your worthless mayor let Seattle police and FBI go in and take down the "CHAZ", "CHOP" area that she called "Summer of Love" in Capitol Hill after nearly a month of destruction and mayhem because protesters and rioters came to her house and started damaging her property...interesting when it was city property it was fair game...sad.

We have the rear plate only in AZ, it is aesthetically much nicer looking without a front plate that's for sure. I've never had one on the C5 even when I was still living in OR and I never had a cop bother me and I had the front plate in the back storage area so if I was ever pulled over I could put it on.

Not only is a front plate easier for cops to hit you with the laser (Lidar) gun, but toll roads in many states with high speed camera's need them as well.

Front plates look horrible on Vettes more than any other car I think, it's just not designed for them and they ruin my very low .29 Cd "Coefficient of drag" :D

Nooooooooooooo! ?

Let’s hope not we are already losing so many things now. People fail to realize just how bad things are going to be..and Covid only helped show how bad the cracks in our society really are......

Sorry, but I've always thought public buffets were nasty. People smacking their chops to ribs and potato salad then licking their fingers and immediately back for seconds touching the same serving spoon or spatula you do. NO THANKS, I'M GOOD!!!

Owned my house for 8 years now and I've always been friends with all my immediate neighbors in a 4 or 5 house radius. In fact, an awesome neighbor 2 houses down puts on a potluck every year just before Thanksgiving and invites our radius of neighbors, shared good home cooking and conversation for all of us.

We don't all agree on politics, but we don't let that ruin our friendships either. We all watch each others backs and always have, which is a nice feeling for sure.

I just saw this story and wish Washington would get on board as I see very little benefit in having a front license plate other than making the job of the cops easier.

I didn't have a front plate in AZ, had to get a bracket installed when I moved to Ohio.

I have (illegal) YOM plates on the ‘40, with only a rear legal plate... but as of yet it’s not been seen by Johnny Law.
B-59 will run without front plate also, hang the consequences... even tho the front bumper has a dedicated spot for one.
All the dailies have front plates. They do look bad on the Sonic LTZ & Malibu.
