Just started watching House of Cards. 1.25 episodes in and I'm already hooked.

Anybody else watching it?

You mean season 1 or 2?

Man, I binge watched those like a year ago.  Awesome political drama.  Great writing, acting. Can't wait for 3.

Nope. Haha 1.25. My bus ride in the morning is about 40-45 minutes so I always get stuck in the middle of episodes. I used to hate it but I'm used to it now because I just binge watch it anyway so it's almost like one long-ass movie. That's how I watched Game of Thrones. I got to watch all 5 consecutive(not literally in one sitting or even a week but you know what I mean). I didn't have to wait a week per episode. Well, now I will though...

Oh, season three is out now. I think I was told season 4 will be out in February.

I want aggressive tires and GM Accessory wheel flares for my truck.  THANKS IN ADVANCE, SANTA.  BTW, the red light is still on, but it... could go out at any moment.  Got it?

Are you...suggesting that your red light is on? You know...

So now...you are propositioning Santa???!!!

(I remember the last conversation...with poor ol' Rudolph being kidnapped and all, but I thought steering this conversation in THIS direction seems like a lot more fun!!) :D

Propositioning Santa?   Not a homewrecker... HOWEVER, something like this scenario might play out if I don't get what I want.  I don't think this nose has a 250 mile range.  ;)

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you feel like it...but...

Does anybody else worry that the automotive companies are starting to thin themselves out too far again? I mean look at BMW and MB and how they offer 78 different GLE/X5 variants and that can be said through both entire lineups. We are consistantly getting new niche vehicles from nearly evrey company, more and more performance variants within each lineup, there's an AMG and M for everything, ST/GT/RS for Fords and it sounds like they're only expanding, rumors of a full size Ram SUV, Chevy has two identical lineups and both are looking to add new vehicles to them.. Last time there were multiple brands involved but this time I feel like it is less brands(obviously) but expanding lineups to fill all of these voids but eventually people won't be buying cars again. It's just the cycle of economics, highs and lows.

What happens when people can't afford cars again at the clip we're buying them right now? They'll be back where they once were, I feel.

So, does anybody else kind of worry about this in the back of their minds as well or am I the only one?

Top of the page bump.

And thanks dfelt.

I'm afraid that their margains will slowly diminish because there are so many different products and only so many different ones can sell at a high enough rate to profit.

I think part of the issue is referring to all of those vehicles as "models"  They aren't models... they are trims and body styles.   The Germans are by far the worst in this with BMW being the most absurd.    It was an article I had intended to write last year but work took precedence.  I went back and looked at my notes.  If you go buy what BMW considers a unique model, they have 98 (!!!) models in their lineup (as of December 2014)... but that's because they consider the 28 variants of the 3/4 series to all be unique models.

.... as a matter of fact, maybe I should finish that article.

You are correct. I labeled them incorrectly.

While the Germans are the worst I fear that everybody is growing that route with cars like the ST/GT/RS(don't get me wrong, I LOVE the idea of more performance cars in a lineup) but they cost money and eventually people won't be buying at the rate we are right now.

I was just curious if I was the only one who had thought of this as a growing concern that could possibly put us back where we were in 08-09 if we slow down our rate of purchase.

I think the Germans feel like they need to fill out every niche possible so as to when there is another slow down in sales, they would have covered most of their bases with every single type of model and trim so it would be easier to let go of the niches that dont sell and it wont matter because they are represented in another niche...

But it is not you that are calling them models... the brands themselves call them models.   Is a BMW 320i a different model from a BMW 328i? Is a BMW 328i xDrive another model?  BMW says yes... I say no.

Go up even further.  Are the 3-series and 4-series two different models?  In marketing materials, BMW says yes, when reporting sales numbers BMW says no.

Honestly, it doesn't matter to me because my point was that there is just sooooo many "vehicles"(lol) filling voids for such a small amount of people that the concern of spreading their money out to these vehicles that aren't selling that great but it "fills a void" will eventually bite them in the butt..because there will NOT be a sustained growth like there is right now. Stupid cars like the 3/4 Series Grand Turismo?!?! X4, X6, GLE Coupe?!?  We continue to talk about Cadillac's lack of a lineup but let's say they finally fill it out with like 5 more vehicles..then sales spread out among all the lux companies that much more and there's less pie for everybody at that point, right? I mean just because another company fills out a lineup doesn't mean that 1,000,000 more people  will be buying lux cars across the board. The pie is slowly growing(as populations grow) but each piece is getting smaller and smaller as there are more and more options to choose from. At what point is enough? When will there be too many choices that the companies cannot recoup their investmetns and we go back to a ridiculous recession?

Olds,

I was responding to your Blue GT350R pic when the hooligans got'r locked up. But was the that blue that the car was showed in? If so..it isn't available. Which is a shame because it is a gorgeous shade of blue. While I love the color I still have a spot for "magnetic". I tend to like my white->black colors.

Yeah, I see your point Drew and Ccap.

I too, dont think a 318 is a different model from a 335 and  a 4 Series different model from the 3 Series.

What I was talking about though, is a 6 Series Grand Coupe 4 door different from the 5 Series the platform is based on and a M-B CLS different from the E Class that it is based on.

CCAP,

Yes, it is the blue GT350R that Ford introduced last year at NAIAS. And yes, I realize that Ford is not making that colour available, however, If I was in the market for one, not only would I NOT mind spending that much coin on a GT350....the regular GT 350, because the 'R' version might be a tad too extreme for my needs, but Id spend money scrapping the white and blue stripe paint job that Id be ordering it in, and Id pay to have it PAINTED that shade of blue from an outside firm...

PS: I was part of the problem as to why that thread was locked. My message to another poster, while not insulting or anything, was not a friendly response. I made it clear to that poster that I dont really care for him all that much.

The awkward moment when I realized that Skyfall and Taken 2 have a similar action sequence (one movie is using motorcycles and the other is using old fashioned humans running) using the same exact location...

Its an even more awkward moment when I still refuse to call this location by its current name...

Car and Driver's Camaro vs. Mustang comparo featured an automatic Camaro and a stickshift Mustang. Just got my copy of the magazine today.

But when seeing one in person...live and in the flesh....

WOW!!!

:chevy:

Posts like this one are why I'm telling you you should hold off on judging the Camaro's looks until you actually see one for yourself :D Edited by El Kabong

Yup. No argument there from me.

The Zeta Camaro does nothing for me...but I KNOW that the Apha Camaro will move me....it looks sooooo much sleaker in pics,,,which was part of the problem with the Zeta Camaro with me.

So yeah...when is this bad boy coming out?

PS: I saw a regular Sting Ray yesterday coming home...to which I HAD to drive by that street where that white Z06 is at so I could drool over it some more...hence me posting that random thought yesterday...

Its not as if I never liked the C7...I always did...but in pics, the front end does not look like a supermodel....in pics..it looks like the girl next door...nothing special...but in person...YOWZA! Its like the porn movie girl next door!

Has the moble site slightly changed for anybody else?

You can't click the "new content" link because it is staggered under the "main menu" link unless I turn my phone sideways.

Anybody else? I have an iPhone 6.

I see the same thing....iPhone 6, Safari browser...
