Gasoline futures tanked by 9.11 cents to close at $1.9946 a gallon, and some analysts say it could be a sign that the 2006 highs for retail gasoline prices in the U.S. are behind us — assuming there is no repeat of last summer's ferocious Gulf of Mexico hurricane season.

well i don't think that means we are going to see gas at 2.00 a gallon any time soon...prolly won't ever again...but prices are going down and that is a good thing. The best cure for high prices is high prices....eventually demand dies down and prices go down.

I'm sure the $1.9946 a gallon is on the whole sale market. That doesn't include taxes and other things on top of that. Remember, the biggest reason for the lastest drop in price of a barrel is because of the lastest report showing that we have leveled off our demand and that refineries output is on the rise after the change over the ethanol. We need to continue our awareness of conserving our oil useage and look for other means of energy.

Oh, by the way, I've been paying in the $2.60s for the last 2-weeks. :omfg: MAN, GAS IS CHEAP!! :duh:
