The Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcat models have become a big seller for the brand. Dodge brand head Tim Kuniskis tells Automotive News they have received 9,000 orders for both models, double the amount the company was expecting to sell. This high amount of orders has caused a backlog of models needed to be produced.

According to Allpar.com and confirmed by Automotive News, Dodge has temporally suspended orders for Hellcat models while they work through the backlog.

“Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats,, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system,” the company said in a statement to Automotive News.

Dodge hasn't said when they will end the suspension, but Allpar says they are expected to resume in August.

Very good news. Proves if you build it right they will come.

GM are you listening? Proper Built Syclone and Typhoon will sell as will a updated SS Trailblazer, Hell give the Greenies some fun factor and build an EV SS. I know the motors are out there to have fun with so think outside the box.

FCA oversold these cars from the moment they announced the existence of the Hellcat engine and now they can't deliver until August? What did they expect to have happen?  People buy a Dart that day visiting the dealer rather than wait a month on a Hellcat to show up?  Way to manage expectations.

Somehow, this doesn't surprise me.....

Dodge builds cars people actually want.  Dealers and factories don't know what to do!

Just kidding.

I sort of agree though, parts of it are definitely true.

I'm wondering where people get the money for these. The economy is still in a recession, and somehow thousands of people want a 700hp four door? I'm wondering if people plan to use these as their daily drivers.
