CYPRESS, Calif., Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) kept its outstanding sales pace through the month of September with sales totaling 5,558 units, a remarkable 38.9 percent increase over the sales total from September 2013.

Maintaining its position as the best-selling vehicle in the Mitsubishi Motors varied product lineup, the American-made Outlander Sport sales totaled 2,351 units – the best all-time September sales month for the stylish 5-passenger compact crossover/SUV. Outlander Sport sales are up 28.3 percent over the sales total from September 2013.

Holding strong in second place is the highly fuel-efficient Mirage 5-door sub-compact with sales of 1,340 units. In its first year of sales, the Mirage has been the second best-selling Mitsubishi model every month for the last seven months (March through September).

What's more, Outlander sales have posted the best first nine month sales (January through September) since 2008.

"Thanks to our all-new Mitsubishi Mirage, the redesigned Outlander and the updated Outlander Sport, Mitsubishi Motors is continuing its positive sales momentum throughout 2014," said MMNA Executive Vice President of Sales, Don Swearingen. "Our customers are responding very positively to these vehicles thanks to their excellent fuel efficiency, plentiful features and outstanding affordability."
