MAZDA CX-5 AND MAZDA6 SET RECORD SEPTEMBER SALES

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported September U.S. sales of 23,980 vehicles, representing an increase of 6.7 percent versus last year. Year-to-date sales through September are up 9.3 percent versus last year, with 240,953 vehicles sold.

"The past two years have seen a September sales month without the Labor Day holiday, which can present a challenge for our dealers, yet we still reported a year-over-year increase," said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales, MNAO. "Sales growth continues to be the product of strong dealer support and SKYACTIV Technology, specifically the quality, fuel efficiency, technology and value found in Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5."

Key September sales notes:

  • Mazda sold 23,980 vehicles in the month of September, 2014, a 6.7 percent increase year-over-year (YOY).
  • After the best August in nine years, Mazda6 also recorded its best September in nine years (2005) with 4,263 vehicles sold, an increase of 34.6 percent YOY.
  • Coming off best-ever August sales, Mazda CX-5 saw best-ever September sales with 8,097 vehicles sold, an increase of 28.9 percent YOY.
  • SKYACTIV® Technology proves to be the key between performance and fuel efficiency as customers demand a no compromise solution. More than 84.0 percent of Mazdas sold in September were equipped with SKYACTIV Technology.
  • Mazda reported Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) September sales of 3,513 vehicles, up 17.0 percent YOY. Year-to-date CPO sales are up 16 percent versus last year, with 32,217 vehicles sold.

Good to see Mazda succeeed.  The Mazda3 is pricier than its competitors.  I'm sorry to see the Mazda5 canceled in the U.S.  I don't like the current version, but I would've considered the redone model if they were to bring it here.

If you remove the Mazda 6 and CX-5 Mazda is really on decline. False numbers as they need to correct their family of auto's to keep sales growth rather than just focus on 1 or 2 auto's.
