Porsche Reports Best Ever June Sales - up 11% over 2013

  • Porsche dealers sell 4,102 cars

ATLANTA, July 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars, Macan and Cayenne SUVs and the Panamera four-door sports sedan line-up in the United States, today announced June 2014 sales of 4,102 vehicles, marking the best June in company history. During the first half of 2014, PCNA has delivered 22,919 vehicles in the U.S., for an increase of 7.6 percent over last year (21,309) – which was a record-setting year.

"This first half of the year has been impressive on a number of fronts," said Detlev von Platen, President and CEO, Porsche Cars North America, Inc. "Along with experiencing record-setting deliveries, we were recently recognized for the second time in a row as the top brand in the annual J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. While the Panamera came out on top of all cars surveyed, our 911 and Boxster models ranked highest in their segments. We plan to continue this momentum with a persistent cadence of new models arriving at our dealerships this year."

The latest arrival, the Macan S and Macan Turbo, Porsche's first compact SUV, recorded over 2,000 sales during its first six weeks in the market.

Too early, but Macan eating Cayenne. If it wasn't for Panamera, the brand would have been flat. People love SEDANS!

Sorry Z, I meant to give you a plus one and it came up minus one. I will gladly take companies like MINI and Porsche building sedans and SUV's...as it keeps them in business building sports cars.

You pretty much need to be McLaren to build only sports cars.

I +1'd ya to even it out. :)

I'm betting Macan will definitely cannibalize Cayenne sales.  I think that is a given.  I think a lot of people were willing to get something bigger than they really wanted or needed just so they could have the Porsche badge.  Now they don't have to.

No worries guys, I am not here to comment for an up-vote.

Balthy, yes bread and butter, not pecan, dark chocolate souffle matters in survival. However, too much bread and butter like GM does can cause obesity and lethargy.

I think to a certain extent every brand needs a halo auto, sedans, sports car and suv/cuv. Trucks, do not need to be part of everyones lineup but the rest does.

They are moving metal and staying in business. They build some neat stuff. That is enough for me.

...and considering how low Acura sales are at the moment Porsche is moving almostvas many SUVs as Acura moves in sedans who would have thought....?
