Since the Opel Adam went on sale earlier this year, many wished for the Adam to come to the U.S. as a Buick. Those wishes could become reality.

"We are looking at it. Nothing is decided. But it's an example of some of the Opel product being used elsewhere in the world," said Opel Chairman Karl-Thomas Neumann.

If the green light is given for Buick to get the Adam, don't expect it to come until the first redesign. The current model doesn't meet U.S. safety and other regulatory requirements.

"We have to work on the car. That's one of the issues that we have to look at," said Neumann.

Editor's Note: Back in December, we tried our hand at what Buick's version of the Opel Adam should look like. We named it the Buick David. What do you think? -DD

I remember Opel from a far back memory. It looks like a sleek design, different from some of the smaller cars that just seem shapeless. Would love to see what Buick will do with it?

I wonder if our story and images on the awesome little monster played any part. I hope so as what Drew had done was very cool indeed. :D

Make it light, have a quick, peppy, fuel-efficient engine, classy interior with a lot of available tech features and it will sell big.

Maybe that's what GM is waiting for: the new small displacement 3-cyl engines...

Wondering why the Cascada hasn't turned into a Buick yet, though... It's a no effin' brainer IMHO...

Yes, a convertible would be nice to see...Buick has been 4dr only for nearly 15 years..they need something besides sedans and CUVs to spice up their line. And the Adam could give them a neat high style entry model, totally different from the Spark & Sonic across the street at the Chevy dealer.

Agreed. Adding a little spice to Buick's lineup would be nice; the Cascada would be an elegant way to do that and the Adam would aim them closer to the Mini crowd than to the Spark crowd.

The Cascada is coming and will be here sooner than not.

The real question is this. The Adam only did Four Stars on the Euro crash test. What I want to know is what areas it failed will not be affected by the US standards or will Buick have to do some extra work.

From what I have been told by people at GM is anything less than 5 stars here is the kiss of death in the market and the smaller the car the worse the effect. I know the standard over there and here are different and I wonder if the car will do 5 stars here now or how much change will come to the car to bring it here. This may have part of the hesitation GM displayed on bringing it here to start with.

I hope it gets here pretty much as is but GM NA really wants nothing less than 5 stars anymore as so many in the general public really pay attention to these stats and buy accordingly.
