Maserati Sees Big Sales For The New Quattroporte :Comments

Maserati is making some ambitious sales predictions for the brand and the new Quattroporte that will be shown next month at Detroit.

At the press introduction of the new Quattroporte in Nice, France, Maserati brand CEO Harald Wester said their parent company Fiat would be investing close to $1.6 billion into the brand to help revitalize and make it more competitive. Maserati will be launching three new vehicles in coming months; the Quattroporte being the first.

With those new models, Maserati has set a target of 50,000 vehicles by 2015, a large increase from the 6,159 units sold last year. For the new Quattroporte, Maserati is hoping to sell 13,000 models in 2013.

Maserati is hoping to leverage some of Chrysler's dealer network to help pull these ambitious sales goals.

Some industry analysts are skeptical of Maserati's lofty sales goals though.

"Maserati has the right reputation and consumers are out there for more premium cars, especially in the U.S. and China. On the other hand, their target is incredibly ambitious," said Neil King, an analyst at Euromonitor International in London to Automotive News Europe.

Are they planning some big price reduction and new dealership rollout? Nothing like rolling into a Chrysler Dodge Ram Fiat Plymouth Jeep Eagle Mitsubishi dealer to pick up your Italian super sedan...

Probably it will cost $100,000 and then when people can't afford that, they can have a Fiat, since it is still Italiano and full of passion and soul. In fact, you could buy 2 Fiat's so you have a back up for when the first one breaks down.

REMINDER, Europe is in their own Great Depression and not only are many people bankrupt but the counteries are bankrupt. I really do not see them selling 50,000 by 2014 from the 6100+ this year. No way this is real.

I think Maserati is counting on U.S. and China to make a bulk of the sales.. Not that I think they have a chance to possibly get those numbers.

Considering that Maerati has one of their largest dealerships in Bellevue Washington next to Microsoft, Google and Amazon. I still do not see them selling as many as stated and I agree with you while they might be looking at the US and especially China. Things are cooling off even in China where people are just not spending money like crazy. I can see them at 25,000 by 2015.
