Preowned Captiva Sports (read: Vue) on the market vs. new competition

There seems to be quite the flood of lightly owned Captiva Sports on the market now. Some may recall these as Saturn Vues.

How does everyone think these compare with the small-mid crossover market, with all its new contenders? The Captiva got the 6 speed auto. Its a solid ride. It didn't have the foibles of the Escape. But how can it compete when there is already an Equinox too?

I think its a nice choice to have it in the pre-owned stable. The ones I have seen are too pricey though. I would get one over an Equinox maybe, but not a Terrain.

Yeah, at $20 large I'll pass too. There's no way I'd choose one over a second-gen Equinox.

Hell, I can't really think of anything that it really outclasses now. The Jeep Compass maybe? Then again, the Compass isn't exactly junk anymore. Maybe the outgoing RAV-4?

Also, when you consider the fact that a loaded used last-gen Vue with under 50,000 miles goes for a fairly cheap price (around $12 grand in my area) then the asking price on the Captiva Sport can look absolutely, well, retarded for a lack of a better word.

What's that? Pay double the price for a bowtie badge, maybe 20,000 less miles if you're lucky, and a warranty that's good for 2 years? Yeah, no. I'll just buy this other one over here with this big ass red K on the grille. I'll deal with replacing the headlight bulbs out of pocket and an extra squeak under the dash if I can get half off the price.

It's less gaudy than the Equinox and its interior materials are nicer... other than that, nothing really special about it.

Hertz is selling them here for $17,450 with 28K miles on the clock: http://www.hertzcars...LocationId=1138

If I were in the market for a practical used former-rental family car, I'd probably get a Mazda5 for $2K less: http://www.hertzcarsales.com/Vehicle/Mazda_Mazda5_13965413?Distance=20mi&PostalCode=90056&pageNumber=1&viewType=ListView&pageSize=10&Makes=Mazda&Models=Mazda5&MinMileage=20000&MaxMileage=30000&LocationId=1138

Saturn Vues were still bringing good dough used last I recall. Crossovers in general if they have AWD bring nice money regardless of brand.

One advantage with the Captiva over the Vue.....6 speed auto.

Mazda5 is a MINIVAN THOUGH!!!!!!!

Captiva is less gaudy than the Equinox. Equinox is still more SUV in aura. CRV's and RAV's are more like the Captiva's feel.
