Trident announced it would finally show its production-ready car in public next month -- the Trident Iceni Grand Tourer, a diesel-powered machine that should hit 200 mph while returning 69 mpg on a variety of fuels.

While very cool, the $119,000 price tag will keep this to the upper 5% of earners. Cool looking car.

Big 'meh' on the design (except for the taga-esque roof), but the numbers are attention-grabbing.

>>"Trident also didn't release the weight of the Iceni, which should be a substantial disadvantage to any of its competitors."<<

Does this mean a disadvantage that they didn't release the weight, or is it implying the weight is going to be low somehow?

A 6.6L V-8 diesel is not, by nature, a light mill.

So in searching on more info, I came across the UK and Euro mags covering this car. They all say Trident has signed with GM to use the 6.6L Duramax Diesel Engine and Allyson Tranny in the car, reprogrammed for total performance.

WOW :yikes: That is allot of weight in a supercar. So the engine weights 835lbs, the tranny weights 330lbs. That is 1165lbs of engine/tranny on the front axle and mid section. I think it would be hard to get a 50/50 distribution for perfect balance in a supercar, but then maybe I am wrong or missing something.

Yea, first thought was it was the DuraMax, that's a massive engine for a 'sports car'. Going to need a really beefy platform to contain that power, too. This thing is going to be a monstrous road pig..... if it ever even gets released.

AFA weight distribution goes, just have to add a counterweight, you know; like a heavy machine has.

2" thick lead plates in the ass end ought to do it. ;)

Ugly and short.

A "baby" Duramax might be a better choice for this idea - the real deal is just too much for this sort of car.

Even the rear diff would have to be massive...
