The Year Is: 1969

The year is 1969. You're a rookie on the police force who has just made his first big moonshine bust.

The police chief knows you've got a future in chasing down bootleggers, so he decides to let you pick which car in the fleet you'd like as your own personal police car. The only question is, which one?

"Ventura Highway...in the sunshine...".....neat old song by the group America.

I'll take the Ventura, please.

I took the Fury--with the provision that it has the 375 HP 440 V8. Same powertrain that allowed the big Dodge Polara to hit 147 MPH. The Fury is a bit smaller and lighter. I almost went with the '66 Ambassador because I'm such an AMC fan. With the 270 HP 327 V8, it was pretty quick. I had a '65 Ambassador and it was a very comfy car, and well put together.

I'd like to say the Pontiac, but if my recollection of factory lit is correct, I don't believe a big cube option was available, so I will default to a Fury with a 440, please. She's a pretty girl, too. I had a Charger Rallye 440 car, those beasts pull hard.

Question on the 1969 Plymouth Fury. Did these come with flashing headlights and tail lights or did only the roof light flash at all? When did cop cars in general get flashing lights outside the roof?
