Car & Driver reports that Volkswagen has confirmed the dates of when the Mark 7 Golf and its variants will be going on sale. The base Golf will go on sale next spring for European markets. North America has to wait until the fall to get theirs.

However, North America and Europe will get their hands on next GTI at the same time when its launched next Fall.

Also, Volkswagen is considering whether to send the next generation GTD over to the states. If you don't know what GTD is, take a regular GTI and drop a diesel engine into it.

Would be a heck of a car if VW could get its reliability problems into line.

I think the bodywork will look sweet...but the repairs...not so much.

Once again, methinks GM might be building better cars than some of their competition....

Clearly VW is hurting as I saw this morning on TV that the Puget Sound VW dealers are offering Golfs and Jetta's with no money down and only $79.95 a month for 36 month lease and 15K miles.

This just screams I have crappy product and have to give it away like Mitsubishi did to keep cars moving off the lots.

79 bucks? link please!!!! i wonder what the catch is.

VW is NOT hurting. Passats and Jettas are flying out of showrooms. .....

Golf is classic, for Europe. I wish they could sex up the Golf a bit. Something akin to a Verano hatch, pls.

I might have leased one a couple years back if they hadn't had the lame 2.5 in it.

Here is one I found on the net.

http://www.leasetrader.com/Volkswagen-Jetta-Lease-Specials

The company that was running the crazy $79 lease on Jetta's and other VW cars in a TV commercial was Larson Auto's VW dealerships. They are pretty much it for the area other than one other small family owned VW dealership in the northend.

http://www.larsonvw.com/page/incentives/en/#

This is their incentive page. It looks like the $79 might be on a stripped manual Jetta. But to confirm the price they want you to give them your info and they will get back to you.

Flying out of the showrooms yes, but they still have the worst dealer network of any car maker, and a huge number of quality issues.

love the scirrocco or whatever the German name is. Corrado?

I don't think it would sell a lot here, but I do think VW would benefit from it being here.

I parked next to a CC today, and I've always liked it..... but now I am not at all interested, and it's got the interior guts from the several years old old Passat.

The new Jetta and Passat are not VW but are the new face of VW, and it is selling like mad. The Beetles, Golfs, and Rabbits are what VW sort of was.

Yea saw Larsons add for Washington state again, Manual Jetta with cloth interior, am/fm hd radio and the normal required safety devices for $79 a month. For $89 a month they say you can step up to navigation and a few other bells and whistles and then they have a $99 jetta with auto and a $109 jetta fully loaded if I read the commercial right. So much thrown at you in a 30 sec spot.

These lease rates should keep them moving cars, but I wonder if there is really any value in the residual and with their quality issues, I wonder how long these cars really will last.

...and ironically...I would have traded in the Miata for this rather than buying the MINI Cooper S had the Socorro been available.

VW screwed themselves out of one sale (me and the Mrs) by not having this available stateside...

read today where sergio marchonne is accusing VW of dumping cars in Europe.

They're sort of dumping them here too, but their quest is to like double sales......

even my Dad now wants to look at a new Passat diesel. He always wanted a Rabbit diesel. I highly doubt he will be ok with the build quality on the new VW's......
