A couple for cubitar, as he shares my love of racing and Porsche...

Since I have a serious old truck fetish as well...

never noticed that before...but I can't say it bothers me so much, considering how gorgeous the rest of the car is. Like a beautiful woman with two different color eyes.

...actually scratch that metaphor. that's sexy.

Posted

^ What's with the round wheel well & the squared wheel well? That crap drives me nuts.

I actually kind of like it on that car...

Posted

I love the styling of those late '50s-early '60s sports cars like the BMW 507 and Ferrari California....fantastic proportions, and so obviously RWD...

Posted

I'm gonna have to call those mismatched wheel wells an industrial gaff.

Those ferraris are nice, they have good proportions, they're just kinda bland/generic, IMO.

To each his own.

Smokey's "13" is a sweetheart.

What's goin' on with the chrome piece over the grille on the CTS race cor?

And yes I still have a fetish for green cars.

Smokey's "13" is a sweetheart.

What's goin' on with the chrome piece over the grille on the CTS race cor?

Looks like it is coming loose...

Cool VW, I forget what they're called. Dude's losin' his drawers with the mohawk there. ;)

I like how it has some of the same design language as the Corvair we both love so much....

I can pretty much enjoy any vintage car being respectfully beaten upon

Water cooled 911 almost ranks with Muira and Jag E type as being one of the best looking cars ever, methinks.

Oops, I meant to say air cooled, although I love the Water Cooled 9111s also...another A C pic

Obviously there's was not red white and blue...

Guy I knew bought one of these brand new back in the day, sadly he died of cancer about ten years ago or so...

The BMW (bttm of post #184) reminded me of the Javelin's roof spoiler, so I went looking. The javelin's is factory, is BMWs, and who had it first?

I still think the AMX/2 is about the most beautiful sports car design ever:

Balthazar, you and I could agree on the AMX 2 design...simply fabulous!

One more vintage Javelin pic and then I will quit...but my automotive lust seems to know no bounds.

THANKS for the pics Balthazar...

I love those first generation Javelins too. The second gens were alright, but they lost that charisma th early ones had.

OBTW, found this. figured after I picked myself up off the ground, I'd post it.

but wait, there's more!

As a joke, Hot Rod Magazine ran a story about the return of AMC, offering up a whole lineup of wonderfully done concepts. Alas, that lovely Javelin vert, Matador, Ambassador, AMX coupe and AMX/4 are painfully not real:

There was also a Gremlin and a Pacer, but I'll spare you.

Here's the story instead:
