Mother may I have another... threadful of wicked car spots? I promise I'll be a good boy.

Post 'em here!

Posted

Black, 2nd-gen RX-7, tubbed, going up the highway. And like a '63 Dodge sedan at the gas station.

Posted

OK, I saw today 5 different Fiat 500's on the road in Seattle all different colors and all wearing Dealer plates.

Wonder is this the only way they can get those cars on the roads for people to see them?

Have yet to see one that actually has a normal washington license plate.

1962 Ford Fairlane sedan. Primer black with white top. Red steelies and factory hubcaps.

Posted

My buddy bought a rock solid '68 Fairlane 500 fastback project, previous owner was working on eradicating the exterior trim to make it out like a Cobra Jet.

Loved the body shape, interior isn't bad for this period Ford, but the nose is so bland.

Could look like one of these:

Saw a 60 something Galaxy convertible while I was still in Dallas. He was making *very* good time.

Today spotted an eclipse of sorts: an early 80s Ford Country Squire, white with woody paneling running along side a similar vintage Caprice Estate in the same paint scheme. With me following in the Toronado, it was like being transported back to 1984.

Drove to a wedding reception in Bethlehem late yesterday and stayed overnight. While in the area, cruised around Bethlehem and Easton to different spots and decided to check out a Buick GMC store my Acura's nav pointed me to in Easton. Nice to get my fill of Sunday GM lot browsing again. Hard to do in Philly with gated locked up lots.

First up, the Verano. Very impressed by the style and presence inside and out of this car in person, especially details like the wheels and foglamps, all standard. The Regal and Lacrosse base trims AND a few Cadillacs could get a few pointers here. Parked my new 2012 TSX demo nose to nose.

IMG_0638.jpg

Then over to the Regals. First oddity, a 2012 CXL with “Unit Build Without Power Mirror Turn Signal Indicators” and -$50. Odd. Using the 2011 mirror assemblies. Supplier issue? Only one like this on the lot.

IMG_0174.jpg

The GS standard 19” wheels are very well done and easily be confused with the optional 20's unless side by side with a close eye. Great car I wish I'd see more of sold and on the streets. Also an old leftover but very attractive gray 2011 CXL with the 19” accessory wheel package on the factory sticker. Too bad these wheels aren't available for a more normal option price than $3500 and change. Look great. At nearly $35k and not a Turbo, understood why a leftover. I'd go for it, for the right price.

Then trucks. A really nice looking “Orange Metallic” (no other creative surnames?) Canyon. Then an All Terrain Sierra. Looks like All Terrain means mostly body color grille and badging. Interesting aspect between the 2 trucks being the 5-cyl 4wd Canyon and 5.3L/6-spd 4wd Sierra have idential 16/21 mpg ratings.

Saw quite a few rare or oddball cars today.

Started out with an elusive Buick Verano, in pearl white. First one I've seen on the road. Does GM even advertise this car? A pearl white Acura ZDX. I was intriqued who would buy an ugly, impractical, expensive crossover such as this, and apparently it's a middle-aged woman. A black Chrysler Prowler. A late 80's powder blue Subaru XT. Two Porsche Panameras, one in white and the other in charcoal. A donked circa 1970 Olds Cutlass convertible. And this mid-60's El Camino:

Driving in to work both Friday and today I saw two different brand new 2013 Ford Taurus sedans (Friday's must have been a SEL or Limited model, as it was nicer looking, whereas the one I saw today looked to be a fleet or base model). While I was not a fan of the redesign when shown at the '11 NYIAS, I will admit I like the new look out in the wild (all except the SHO, I still think it looks too cartoony). I guess the big, gaping bass fish-inspired grille is growing on me

Nice spotting there, caddycruiser!! Those are the upgraded chrome rims for 2012 that a lot of GMC dealers are not opting for (have seen only one other GMC dealer within Mercer, Burlington & Camden counties with a Canyon & those rims). I think their awesome looking and would definitely have to select them if I was ordering a new '12 Canyon. I think their very Hummer-like in design/style for a GMC. Not a fan of that red-orange, but definitely like the Canyon otherwise :smilewide:

More orange than my iPhone made it, but just red enough. Great looking truck so equipped and colored.

No ONE buys them...but yet again, another new 2013 Lincoln MKS in black on the street in Manayunk. Maybe they are now? Odd I've seen so many of these and 2013 Taurus's already.

yesterday: '13 Mustang GT/CS convertible; white, blacked-out rear decklid valence. pretty slick.

today: brand new Porsche 991 cabrio, identified it as a Carrera S once it passed me. spoiler up too; very brilliant bright light silver. i mean if there was a true metallic white, that was it.

I have to say, the Ampera looks better than the Volt by a lot... and I like the Volt looks.

Then I spotted these two for sale outside of a Pep Boys and closed Circuit City

wow some sweet finds guys, thanks for taking pictures and posting them.

Sadly just another boring drive into work in Seattle. Nothing outstanding, just the normal lemmings of trucks, suv's, sports cars. But is was and is very sunny.

Driving in to work today, on Route 1 northbound, was a car carrier loaded with two brand new '13 Ford Taurus models on the bottom deck and three older/used Chevies - two Silverado work pickups and one base '94-'99 Suburban 2500. Very strange load, if you ask me!

I've also noticed a lot of these military trucks on the highways in & around NJ the past year:

post-418-0-38951500-1336672892_thumb.jpg

I take it these are the new Army workhorses? I like the tandem axle models (posted), though I see more single rear axles.

UPDATE: After a Google search, I found that these are known as FMTV (Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles), the two pictured above being M1092 A1 models. Here's more from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_of_Medium_Tactical_Vehicles

New 2013 Infiniti JX cruising on the highway. Just like expected, looks long and very minivan in stature. Long, thin and boxy with curvy lines on top.

Interesting.

Posted

Current/new Chrysler 300, a-la cloth topped. How not nice.

IMG_7076.jpg

Then oddly enough, I ran across an upholstery shop in southwest Philly with "custom canvas tops" on their sign. I'm so glad I didn't see that before.

Beautiful 1973 Monte Carlo Landau in dark brown with black top and the urethane wheels, parked along a suburban highway, for sale.

'56 green and white 4-door Chevy wagon. Full length. ;)

My mom dragged me to a "new owner's clinic" at the Kia place, it was held in the dealership's Hyundai building next doh. They have a few nice Velosters, but my favorite was an eye-searing green one with a manual transmission. Once again, my conundrum, if only I could afford two vehicles...

Also, the new Azera looks really good in person, with a strong stance, wide tires and an authoritative air. It does not suffer from Generica like the Genesis sedan and Equus. While I liken the Sonata to a Klingon with that furrowed forehead, I find the Azera to be the strongest expression of the current Hyundai look, and it was black with dark brown leather interior.

Gorgeous Summit White 2012 Canyon extended cab Z71 4X4 with the tan and black interior at the GM dealer in Easton, MD (where I worked for 10 years when it was under different ownership). MSRP $29k, they're asking $25k, plus I got my "private" GM discount coupon in the mail for $1500 off in addition to any other discounts. MUST. HAVE. WILLPOWER. *bites nails*

Also, while helping my bro move yesterday, a bitchin' white 1-Series M coupe passed me, I thought about putting the hammer down to try to catch up, but thought it might not be a good idear to leave a trail of my brother's belongings scattered on the highway...

I still see way too much Civic in these....

No matter what happens, the first word most will say will be "Civic". In reality, size and stature aside, they are 2 completely different cars and in person do not appear related. Size yes, but drive and look, no.

Glad our first is black. The wheels look great and so does black. Next up another graphite one and a Hybrid.

Saw this wagon on Thursday. Not sure model/year, in Roxsborough/Manayunk, my new village.

1969 or 1970... without a better (frontal) angle, I can't narrow it down further.

Looks like a '70 to me...

Just saw these this morning - all out cruising:

- '64 Dodge Polara pro street with blower and without hood

- '70 Buick GSX in screaming yellow

- '79 10th Anniversary Trans Am

Posted

Just now spotted what I'm pretty sure was an Allard - finished in BRG, going topless, sounding good, and sporting an antique tag.

Also a C4 in black with a deep rumble and classic plates.

Posted

Nope, wasn't an Allard. Just scanned some pics and the rear was wrong for an Allard - not sure what it was.

The rear fenders extended well beyond the rest of the body at the rear, and it was Allard-sized (big for a sportscar).

From the 1950s, and sounded like a V8.

Early fifties bulletnosed Ford coupe out for a sunday morning cruise - navy blue with pristine chrome.

I aays loved those cars as a kid...had a chance to buy one when I bought my 55

chevy.

In a perfect world I'd own one some day.

Collectible Automobile magazine runs articles periodically showcasing a certain model year, with gorgeous photo spreads of each brand's offerings for the year, a really good idea for comparison's sake.

It's amazing how different and modern the '49 Ford was in comparison to GM and Chrysler's '49s. The '49-'51 Ford is still a goodlooking car. To me, the competition caught up with Ford styling by the time the '52 came out, and Ford fell back into wallflower status.

I think that looks heaps and tons better than the Civic. Honestly, that's how good the Civic should have looked in the first place...then maybe Honda could have concentrated on developing a proper Integra. /wishful thinking

Silver 2012 Jeep GC SRT-8, one of our wholesalers just picked up to ride/demo and replace his Land Rover LR4. I want one. Roar.

I was behind a Hyundai Avante M16 GDI. A what?!?

Obviously, its an Elantra, but I'm not sure what the story was as it had NJ plates... I suppose it could have come from Canada. It looked too new (and too OEM) to be someone renaming his Elantra, but I suppose anything can happen.
