Cheers or Jeers: 24,000 Mile 1969 Mercury Colony Park Wagon

1969 MERCURY COLONY PARK WAGON

--Dark Blue with simulated woodgrain and Dark Blue interior, 429 V8, C6 automatic transmission, 24,000 original miles.

The Colony Park Wagon showcased Fords dual facing rear seats and made the wagon have 10 passenger seating. It also featured Ford’s two-way Magic Doorgate (could be opened downwards or sideways). It featured, Air conditioning, Power Steering, Power brakes, Power front seat, Dual exhaust and Hideaway headlights. Recently a modern AM/FM/CD with ipod plug (hidden in glove box) with all new speakers has been installed.

This wagon is ready to transport the whole family to Burger King, but also to Walley World if you should desire.

My grandfather had one of these

My folks had a '69 Marquis 4dr ht and a '73 one..but I was too young to remember the '69, can barely remember the '73.

Fixed. The Montego was the mid-size Mercury wagon in '69.

Sweet, Gotta love the room under the hood to work on the baby. It just does not come any easier than this for working on the car.

Love that big ol wood siding. Funny how I hate this on most vehicles, but the Olds Station wagon and the Fords actually looked pretty good this way.

Based on the pictures I surmise his was that stereotypical station wagon beige colour with a green interior.

It was a joke. I like really big wagons.

Yeah, they have their own kitchy appeal, esp. w/ the woodgrain on the sides. I esp. like the '71-76 GM wagons w/ the rear window that retracts into the roof...

Better yet, this is 100lbs lighter than a BMW 650i... 400lbs lighter than a Mercedes S550 or a Chevy Traverse.

Apples and oranges..can't really compare a car from over 40 years ago w/ a modern car. Cars were bigger yet lighter then.

I had a '64 Merc (Park Lane Marauder) for a short while, with bucket & console, it was a neatly styled car in & out, not overstuffed with plastics & vinyls either.

With the 390, it moved out. 10X the car the '69 was.

No, its not apples and oranges... its space per pound. For people not desiring 800 pounds of modern gizmo overkill, comparing basic transportation, the Merc has everything needed at much less weight.

Put this next to a S550 and the average person would think the S550 was lighter... and thats not the case.

Over all, take a Nice mid 80's Monte Carlo with a Ramjet 350 or 502 or even a modern LS3 or LS9 under the hood to anything that is a current selling product and I would kick their ass on a Red light Run. :P Sleeper baby!!!
