    • Jeers! To get that true camper feel, she needs a 250 inline six transplant.

Cheers or Jeers: 52,000 Mile 1968 Chevy Open Road Camper

1968 Chevy Open Road camper. 52,000 miles.

One ton dually by Open Road.

Factory built self contained, 2 owners, cherry condition.

New ZZ3 GM crate 350 engine with 4 bolt main bearing. 202 large valves, RV cam, Edelbrock aluminum intake and 600 cfm 4 bll carb.

Headman headers. Really purrs, but very powerful, more than stock.

And the 400 TH automatic is totally rebuilt at the Chevy dealership that installed the new engine.

Now with just under 3000 miles.

Runs so good. Truck drives like new, very tight and solid. Perfect brakes.

The a/c compressor was not re-installed, and the camper roof a/c not working.

Otherwise, everything works perfectly on this truck and camper.

Has fridge, toilet, shower, propane stove, dining table, queen bed above cab, full bed in back.

Super clean interior. Original beds are beautiful.

Cab is mint except Blazer-style seats are split.

Power steering, power brakes.

Has cd player, otherwise totally original inside.

No rust ever anywhere, never hit or fixed. Perfect body, no dings, pings. Blue paint is getting thin on hood, but is a good looking, rare truck.

Good tires.

It is road ready to go on vacation or the classic car events you like.

Clear title. Current tag.

Original owners manual in mint condition, still in the glove box.

Has 2 gas tanks holding 30 gallons, 50 gallons.

Has original seat belts.

Has a new starter, new roof installed at a RV dealership. Has no leaking problems.

Dash is not altered to install the cd stereo.

Truck was lightly used, camper interior is very clean original.

The dimensions are : overall length 268". Wheelbase 157". Camper behind cab is 12' 9". Total camper length is 18'8". Width of camper is 7'7".

Reluctantly, need to sell.

I'd be so stylin' and profilin' if I rolled up in that at the campground this season. Except for those ripped up seats in the cab, I'd have to have those redone.

Wildman, you mention a 250 swap in your original post... don't you think a 292 would be even cooler, as I think the larger six was used in the heavier chassis in those days?
