At this point I'm curious about buying a vehicle out-of-state and registering it in my state. If it were to happen, it would be a Pennsylvania vehicle coming to New Jersey. I'm wondering how different a PA state title is from a NJ state title? Specifically, would there be additional information I would need to secure in order to convert a PA title to a NJ title?

The NJ title transfer form tends to have more info on it than the surrounding state's titles provide. Basically, if you get all the info about the owner... full address, DOB, PA License number and the vehicle... color, mileage... you will be fine. NJ DMV probably does more PA transfers than any other state.

If you want to be sure, stop by MVS and pick up an out-of-state title transfer form, that way you can see exactly what is needed. Maybe its on the website...

It used to be for out-of-state titles that you would get the registration that day at the MVS, but the title would be mailed... but IIRC, NJ has now streamlined the process to the point that you walk home with a fresh title that day.

Correct info above. All the information from the current owner, title included, and then appropriate NJ transfer and registration forms.

My B-59 came from PA, but that was some years ago. Then, I walked in the DMV with a signed title and got a Jersey one.

In the day, as long as a signature was on the back of the title (and nothing else), it was fine.
