Mercedes-Benz has got some big changes in store for E-Class for its mid-cycle refresh in 2014. Autobild reports the E-Class will look dramatically different than the current model. The current look of sharp and edgy will be dropped in favor softer lines and a more elegant appearance. Only the doors, windows, and roof will remain.

One of the major differences between the current and refreshed E-Class will be the headlights. The current model uses dual headlights, the refreshed model will use a single unit.

Of course this being a Mercedes-Benz, there is some-sort of new technology. In this case, its a new camera system mounted in the front bumper that scans the road for undulations and adjust the suspension accordingly. A similar system will appear in the next generation S-Class in 2013.

Be interesting to see how long the camera for adjusting suspension will take to get to all vehicles or will it be technology that dies. I have a hard time seeing any real value in this compared to what GM has accomplished with their Magnetic Ride system.

67impss, I agee that I do not see this as a softening of the look but a cheapening of it. I wonder just how much their costs are starting to affect them.

Magnetic ride is an reactive suspension. M-B's new suspesion reads the road so that the suspension changes settings to prepare for bumps. The demos of the test cars have been pretty spectacular, there is no body roll or bounce.

M-B has been working on active suspension for 25 years or more...I remember reading articles on in the late '80s...good stuff.
