Now the New York Times has talked with Bob Lutz about GM's present and future state. To view the article, "G.M. Vice Chairman Rebuffs Critics of Turnaround," click here.

I loved this quote: 'Mr. Lutz took issue with a statement by President Bush earlier this year that G.M. "needs to develop a product that's relevant." Responded Mr. Lutz: "I'm a lifelong Republican, by the way. But next time around, Hillary, here I come. I'm a protest vote."'

Translated: "Stick it up your ass GWB" This is a guy who's built nothing in his life telling GM how to do their thing. Did Karl Rove come up with that big word for you too?

I'm a conservative as well, and that comment burned me. I ask, once again, were the machine guns, planes, submarines, boats and armored vehicles GM built during the War against Japanese exapansionism (WWII) relevant????

When American needed GM, and its manufacturing might, she was there......where the he11 is America now.

*chuckles*

Ya know ... I couldn't believe Bush said that when I HEARD him say it ... and I can still hardly believe it even in print.

*shakes head*

Frankly, if GM's products aren't relevant, I'm not sure what automaker's products ARE relevant.....

Comments like that just reinforce how STUPID our president is and SH*TTY this country has become IMO.

I'm an apathetic independent, but I generally support the conservative/republican view. After G.W. I'll DEFINITELY choose a little wiser.

I'll give him credit for that. I won't give him credit for blind ignorance.

Like him or not, atleast he stands up for what he believes.

Personally I don't care for Mr. Bush's approach. All this whining and hand wringing about Iran makes me weary.

Iran says they're not building nukes to get a bomb. They say they want nukes to generate energy. This is in spite of the fact they are sitting on a PILE of oil. OK, so let's take them at their word, with the following proviso: The moment we detect the underground detonation testing of a nuclear device within the territory of Iran, we'll glaze the country. No discussion. No UN. No whining. Just BOOM!

How's that for politically correct walking softly and carrying a big stick?

ya' know,  with iran ready to explode wouldnt it be funny if gm would ask for their humvees back.

id like to see the look on georgies face.

i try not to pay attention to george, hes basicaly lame duck and i doubt he can screw anything else up any worse than he has already.

im knocking on wood as i say this.

its just too bad every chance iran gets they say theyll wipe israel off the face of the earth. granted, i have no doubt they can fend for themselves. they are more than capable. i just dont like to hear soon israel will be destroyed prefaced by "we have finally figured out how to enrich uranium"

its not very confidence inspiring in regards to their philanthropic visions for nuclear knowhow.

the relevance of our forces in that area may have been calculated much more carefully than some baloney about wmd or vendetta.

maybe israel wants to buy some grade a military equipment, just in case they need more.
