You are also pre-judging the very same vehicle (ATS). That's why we're here, to speculate about the future, because we care and are interested.

I posted these Chrysler vids because I think they're nice cars. My grandfather loved his Chryslers. Looking at these examples, I can see why.

No 225 CID Slant Six in these babies, no sirree. ;)

No, I'm not pre judging it. I'm specifically NOT judging it.

1. I'm saying your guesstimate of the power output of the 2.5 is wrong.

2. Excluding the 3-series, the average base horsepower of the competition is 204 hp. To rail on GM about a base Cadillac with the same horsepower is a double standard.

3. GM can easily get more than 10hp more out of the 2.5.

BUT... GM is benchmarking the 3-Series with the ATS, from what we're told... anyway, we're spilling over now. We should not be doing that. This is a thread about cool, hotrod Chrysler coupes from back in the day.

that shared an engine with plymouth...

I mean.... imagine if it was an Imperial....!

Chrysler was different...by the 60s, they didn't have brand specific engines...they had common corporate engines across the 3-4 brands.

BOT Ocen if ya want to look to GM with referance to the Newport then look at Buick Wildcats with 430-455 Stage 1 engines even had Muncie 4spds in them.

Ford I'd look to Mercury Marauders with 429 4V engine. That was the Performance Lux segment at that time. Top Lux was Caddy Imperial & Lincoln.

True, 67impss. I think I posted a 4-speed Wildcat test drive vid a while back, very cool automobile. I'll have to find a Marauder vid to post.
