Brown shirts in halls of power

again

Furtive and scheming

Preparing

Too soon yet for false glory and symbol

Too soon for open declarations and edict

Furtive still

and prevailing

Slow erosions and sharp affronts

Wrapped in cloaks of safety to hide their faces

Sleeping the sleep of slow poisons

Not hearing the cries of warning

Not learning from the brutal past

We turn our heads and refuse to see

Silent now is the fourth estate

compromised and broken

As its own freedom drains away

As it capitulates

Two centuries on

and that golden dawn of wisdom and reason

no longer shines in enough souls

We forget ourselves

We forget the dangers

We allow the dismantling

In our turning away

we invite ugly tomorrows

I like...sounds like something Roger Waters would have written....

Thanks Cubitar, that is one hell of a serious compliment.

It is only the second time I've ever posted any of my stuff here, and I really wondered what you all would think of it.

It also wouldn't be out of place on a King Crimson record.

Thanks, YJ.

I guess my influences are showing.

That said, it wasn't written as a lyric. It does seem to want to be one though.
