  1. 1. Cheers or Jeers?

    • Cheers! A classic you can drive without the exorbitant price of a restored example.

    • Jeers! There are more desirable years out there than 1957.

Cheers or Jeers: 30,000 Mile 1957 Pontiac Catalina Super Chief

WHAT A FIND... THIS CAR JUST PURCHASED OUT OF PRIVATE COLLECTION! 1957 PONTIAC 2 DR HARDTOP WITH 30,000 ACTUAL MILES AND ORIGINAL PAINT. THE CAR IS ORIGINAL AS YOU WILL FIND! BOUGHT NEW IN MARSHALL NC AT ROBERTS PONTIAC NOV. 7, 1957 BY MR SHELTON. AT MR SHELTONS PASSING HIS WIDOW HAD TO RETITLE THE CAR. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL TITLE IN HIS NAME AND A COPY OF THE THE TITLE IN HER NAME DATED 2002. THE PONTIAC WAS JUST PURCHASED OUT OF A PRIVATE COLLECTION AND IS IN UNBELIEVABLE CONDITION. THE BODY IS RUST FREE WITH ITS ORIGINAL BLACK PAINT. THE PAINT IS STILL VERY NICE AND OF COARSE SHOWS SOME AGE BUT ORIGINAL. THE CAR HAS A COUPLE OF DINGS IN IT, THE PAINT IS CHECKED IN A COUPLE OF PLACES AND NORMAL 55 YEAR OLD PAINT THIN SPOTS AND SCRATCHES AND SMUDGES. THE CHROME AND BRITEWORK IS SUPER NICE BESIDES TWO PIECES OF CHROME BELOW THE TAIL LIGHTS. THE ORIGINAL POWERPLANT IS A 347 CID V8 WITH A 4 BARREL CARB. THE CAR HAS THE HYDRAMATIC TRANSMISSION AND POWER BRAKES. I LEFT THE ENGINE BAY 100 PERCENT UNTOUCHED, IT COULD BE MADE TO LOOK BETTER BUT ITS ORIGINAL NOW. ON THE INSIDE THE TWO TONED CLOTH AND VINYL INTERIOR IS VERY NICE NOT RIPPED UP TORN OR DAMAGED. ALL OF THE LIGHTS, GAUGES, RADIO, WIPERS, HORN EVERYTHING WORKS. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THE STEERING WHEEL AND GLASS IS ALL SUPERB! THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE A DREAM! IT IS FITTED WITH AN OLD SET OF AMERICANS AND I ALSO HAVE ITS ORIGINAL WHEELS AND HUBCAPS WITH NEWER WIDE WHITES. (BUYERS CHOICE ON WHEELS AND TIRES) THIS CAR WOULD MAKE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANYONES COLLECTION!

This is my #1 favorite P-57, and P-57s are in my top 3 for Pontiacs.

1957 Super Chief Catalina- only way it could be better is if it were a Tri-Power and had a contrasting color in the spear and/or roof.

I'll even take the AR TTs.

Otherwise, 1001 cheers!
