My grandmother had a '62 American convert, and a '64 2-dr hardtop.

But 'sports car'?? I don't think so, Tim.

If there's one automaker I would actually want to see make a reemergence, it would be AMC. That company, no matter how thick or thin of a budget it had to work with, always managed to be innovative and forward-thinking with a lot of its cars. To think of what they would be doing now if they hadn't been absorbed by Chrysler is sort of depressing.

If only AMC didn't neglect it's Rambler cars and loose focus on the core values it set for itself in the late '50s it probably would have grown up to be a strong player in the '70s. If AMC was still a healthy company building quality small cars like it was circa 1958 to 1962 by the time of the '73 Oil Embargo, it would have been the one American automaker that could have really knocked the living $h! out of the Imports. They would still be here today and, chances are, the Camry wouldn't be America's number one sedan.

Ramblers....my Grandpa on my father's side was a Ramblin' Rambler man.....had a brown '66 Classic up until around '75...vaguely remember as a little kid him and Grandma visiting, down 3-4 quarts of oil w/ the engine knocking...replaced it with a brown '76 Matador sedan, that was his last car IIRC.

that's a nice one. Not sure I've ever seen a coupe before. I like the window line, reminds me of the Machine.

of course, I'm a Javelin sorta guy. But I find these little AMC Hornet hatchbacks interesting.

Had the same Rambler Classic 660 CrossCountry(wagon) twice, Salmon pink no less. I love the American,Scrambler, Marlin, and most all the Mid Sizers plus the later cars except the Paser shame it never got the GM RE I might have forgave the body work.
