CYPRESS, CA--Nov. 1, 2011: Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) today reported October 2011 sales of 4,378 units, down 14 percent from October 2010. Mitsubishi's year-to-date sales remain 51 percent ahead of January through October sales last year. This marks Mitsubishi's highest sales total since 2008 for the first ten months of the year.

"Sales of our Outlander Sport crossover utility vehicle continue to be strong," said MMNA President & CEO Yoichi Yokozawa. "And we expect further momentum as we begin the sales launch of the all-electric Mitsubishi i this month. Response of the media and consumers to the vehicle has been outstanding."

Consumers are getting their first chance to drive the 100% electric 2012 Mitsubishi i as part of the "Mitsubishi i 100% Electric Experience" test drive tour, currently underway. MMNA has also launched an innovative marketing campaign that focuses on the highly efficient and eco-friendly vehicle and how it will assist in the transformation of Normal, Illinois into EVTown, USA.

October sales details:

  • Sales of Mitsubishi vehicles for calendar-year-to-date 2011 are at 70,253 units, a 51.1% increase over CYTD 2010 (46,503) and also Mitsubishi's highest January through October sales total for three years.
  • The Outlander Sport model had another strong showing in October with 1,286 units sold.

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) is responsible for all manufacturing, finance, sales, and marketing operations for Mitsubishi Motors in the United States. MMNA sells cars and light trucks through a network of approximately 400 dealers.
