GM has been very open on releasing details for the Camaro ZL1. But certain nitty-gritty details weren't coming out about the car, until now.

A Chevrolet Dealer recently spilled the guts on the ZL1 ordering brochure at the Camaro5 fourms and we now know the official numbers and so much more.

As was talked about before, the Camaro ZL1 will arrive with a 6.2L V8 producing 580 horsepower, at 6,000 rpms, along with 556 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpms. Power goes through either a six-speed manual (standard), or a six-speed automatic with TAPshift steering wheel controls.

The Camaro ZL1 tips the scale at 4,120 lbs (for the no-options manual version) which is 260 lbs heavier than a base Camaro 2SS. Weight distribution is 51% to the front and 49% in the rear.

Standard features include heated leather seats with microfiber suede inserts with six-way power adjustements, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, unique alloy pedal covers, ZL1 door sill plates, Boston Acoustics-provided premium audio, complete with nine speakers, four auxiliary gauges including boost, rear park assist, rear camera display in the mirror and more.

The option list for buyers include a power sunroof, stripe package, exposed carbon fiber hood insert, interior suede microfiber package (covers steering wheel, shift knob and shift boot), automatic transmission and forged aluminum wheels.

Now for the juicy bits: The ordering brochure confirms a unique “mohawk-style” hood, which features a functional air extractor and is made of carbon fiber. Also, there is a mention of a head-up display, displaying shift lights, lateral g-forces and for ZL1s equipped with the automatic, gear indication.

If this has wet your appetite for a ZL1, you can head down to your Chevrolet dealer on October 29th to order one.

I expect it to run $49,999 to 55,999.

There will be few options as it is cheaper to limit the choices and just sell it nearly the same other than changes in color, wheels and sun roof choices.

Scott said back on the 4th gen the power windows were made standard as it lowered cost for GM. I see this as much the same for a limited model.
