I've always been a big fan of the 1989 to 1991 Chevrolet/GMC Suburban and Chevrolet Blazer/GMC Jimmy full-size SUVs. When I was between 15 and 23 years of age, I really, really wanted to own a new full-size SUV - especially the GMC Suburban - of course these were all way out of my affordable price range at that time. If I had the cash available now, that two-tone blue Suburban above would be gracing my driveway :smilewide:

I thought they outlawed whaling. you'd be better off going with newer versions of these

You're possibly correct there; however, there's no way I could afford one new today! Plus it would have to be a GMC, and I need the Yukon XL's frontend restyled before I would consider it (just use the Sierra's frontend and viola! I'm wantin' one)

This one is still listed (but that doesn't mean it's not already sold):

1988 gmc jimmy. k5 blazer - $2500 (south jersey)

1988 k5 blazer / GMC Jimmy v8 350 your not gonna believe it but it only has 24,000 original miles I bought it from the original owner he only used it for snow. I'm looking to trade it for a smaller car or banshee or 2500$ firm ac works. Any questions 856-264-6004 Tony

I also tried looking for that '87 Jimmy with the 4-speed manual in Bristol, PA, but the listing couldn't be found.

I spoke with that guy, and I'd still consider it. But he painted the body black with a rattle can because he didn't like the original "$h! brown" color.

The guy with the Suburban finally answered my second e-mail. But the message was unclear, he hasn't sold it, but the way he worded things I'm not sure that it's available.

We'll see.

I'd love to dump the ROPOS.

Had to pass on that one.

Would have made a good project - but I have enough of those already.

Interesting history though, the owner was the principal at a local Caddy dealer and kept this when they were bought out. It began life as their (GM required) roadside assistance vehicle and sports a standup Caddy hood ornament. It spent most of those years being stored inside, but the last few years of sitting have done a job on the underside (fuel lines, etc.).

Could be a nice vehicle, but not without some serious attention.
