and still the images are clear and raw. Certain bits of that horror still flash into my mind in total clarity. The sound of the firefighters alarms, the clouds of dust chasing survivors along the streets as they fled, a hole in the shape of an airplane, the skeletal remains of a famous facade balanced precariously at an impossible angle...

Seems like the innocence we had left as a nation drained out that day. We haven't had peace or prosperity since then.

Guess I relive a bit of this every 9/11; my wife was in NYC that morning. I didn't kno exactly where until nearly noon and I didn't hear from her until 3PM.

It's hard to even try and fathom the horror of being trapped in the WTC floors above the plane strikes... :(

I remember hearing an interview of someone who was talking with a pregnant woman who was working in the Windows on the world restaurant on top of the WTC....how scared she was about dieting....wow....

I've eaten at that restaurant before..the views were great.

A friend from grad school worked at Cantor Fitzgerald, she worked from home in NJ that Tuesday, her cat was sick. Random chance of not being at the office. A friend from Colorado was working in the WTC at a client, he was running late that morning and stuck in a cab coming from the airport...

My sister was working in San Francisco that week, with all the flight cancellations she drove a rental Grand Marquis back to Phoenix later that week.

I was between gigs, was at home in Colorado Springs glued to CNN that horrible day...

Not to be overly political, but given the Patriot act and how we reacted...yes...the end of the US as we know it. i would still like to become an ex-patriot, even though there are things I love about our country.

the begining of the end of the U.S. as we knew it

I'd like to disagree... but I can't.

The government has once again become the enemy. It needs a complete reboot from scratch.
