HP is exiting the hardware business, and its iPad competitor is a massive flop. Just over a month and a half after the 'Touchpad's' release, HP is ordering that retailers liquidate it.

Some retailers online have yet to drop their prices. If you keep an eagle-eye out, and do your research, you should be able snag one.

The device itself isn't that terrific and WebOS is no Android. But for $99, you're getting a pretty good deal. Naturally, there's potential warranty and support issues.

Yeah, they're going fast. However, you might get lucky if you keep an eye out on places like:

Online:

Newegg

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&x=0&ref_=nb_sb_noss&y=0&field-keywords=hp%20touchpad&url=search-alias%3Daps#?_encoding=UTF8&tag=cheeandgear-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957">HP Touchpad on Amazon</a><img src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=cheeandgear-20&l=ur2&o=1" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

TigerDirect

Brick&Mortar:

CompUSA

Kmart.com

Sears

These places haven't lowered their prices yet. When they will, is the question.

This is strange. I was at Best Buy on Thursday and I was talking to a guy (in a blue shirt) about this very HP TouchPad and why it was not selling. Three hours later, I see the news that HP is ditching the Touchpad and cutting prices. Go Figure. I thought that BB would need to heavily discount in order to get sales going anywhere.

I hope some talented folks at XDA can get an Android dual boot going on this, that would make it even more of a deal for those that get one.

Ok, apparently one Android team is out because they have the teamwork/social skills of eight year olds. IRC is serious business.

[08/23/2011 -:- 10:58:13 PM] trsohmers: The team has had a lot of drama over the last two days

[08/23/2011 -:- 10:58:39 PM] trsohmers: Because of rhcp and a lot of things

[08/23/2011 -:- 10:58:56 PM] trsohmers: Rhcp left today and took the github with him

[08/23/2011 -:- 11:01:39 PM] BarronThe: and when you say you're leaving touchdroid, you mean the 'team' or the effort altogether?

[08/23/2011 -:- 11:02:05 PM] trsohmers: GUYS

[08/23/2011 -:- 11:02:29 PM] trsohmers: We have a booting kernel

[08/23/2011 -:- 11:02:32 PM] trsohmers: thats about it

[08/23/2011 -:- 11:02:42 PM] trsohmers: only 3 of us had touchpads… not much work was done

[08/23/2011 -:- 11:03:47 PM] trsohmers: So guys, I wouldn't expect much from Touchdroid

[08/23/2011 -:- 11:03:53 PM] trsohmers: or whatever new team forms out of this

[08/23/2011 -:- 11:03:56 PM] trsohmers: sorry to say

This price was a long time ago. I just wish that with the economy these days something like this would come along that people could take advantage of.
