I could not think of anything cute to put in the title this munt. So, without bull$h!, post your late summer spots here, folks.

What I think was a '65 New Yorker four door hardtop, white, with the sail panels covered in black vinyl, as was their style back in that day.

the turbo.....

.... coming from the Cummins RAM behind him.

Yesterday, an Audi A7, a very odd vehicle. A last generation Kia Sorento with gold Lexus emblems and badging. A 1970 Chevy Malibu coupe.

Posted

This morning I saw a light gray '55-56 Chevy pickup in traffic. Stepside bed, spare on the left rear fender, white bumpers and grille. Very plain, looked very clean--new-like condition. Those old trucks have a lot of charm.

Black Audi A7, cruising beside me on the way to work. Filthy, red brake dust covered wheels. Nice shape.

The A7 is a pretty slick car..first saw one (in black) back around January..testing in the desert I guess..it's better looking than the A6 or A8, IMO.

Between Durham and Greensboro, NC, I saw a current-gen BMW sedan, with no badges except for an //M on the back.

Took me a few days to realize it was a 7 Series with exterior mods. Man, all their cars are starting to look alike.

(Clearly that was my favorite!! :P )

There was a really nice '89 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible there that I liked a lot, but for some reason I didn't get any pictures of it.

All new 2012 Hyundai Accent sedan, cruising by. Not an eye catcher, but looked like some kind of new old Korean tiny car...then it clicked.

Last night, a new Hyundai Sonata Hybrid with the big fish mouth front end, with fresh Jersey temp tags and a young guy driving.

Mint '67 Camaro RS (hidden headlights) convertible cream/black nose stripe/black interior last Sunday. Granted that was still July, but why bump the old thread?

A dirty white 2011 Nissan NV full size cargo van in use, with materials hanging out the back door, strapped with a bungie cord.

I've seen these for so long on dealer lots, first time I've ever seen one with an owner and doing work. Looked good.

Seaside Heights Police now have new 2011 Ford Explorers in use... I know that Explorers were going to be available in the fleet dept for police duty, I didn't know that they were already available though. Saw about three or four of them, this one was parked at a huge fire scene when we got there yesterday:

HT4100 triple white Eldorado (not sure if the carpets are red or blue) "For Sale" locally at Cabbage Hill Garage. Of the '79-'85 era, not the tiny ones after.

Looks like it should be in a Terminator re-make

Saw my first Camaro convertible today; black SS, top down. Looks amazing, and I don't even like chop-tops.

Pagani Huayra

Hope you got a good look; they ain't comin' here. Damn Feds.

Posted (edited)

from what I heard, they won't be able to make them meet the multi-stage airbag standard (which is what the NHTSA cockblocked them on) until '15.

(Yeah, yeah, I know half of you don't like Jalopnik, but they're still a somewhat reputable news source.)

Saw a pair of bodacious, beautiful topless B-bodies today...both in butterscotch w/ white interiors. A '73 Centurion convertible and a '73 88 convertible. Drool.

Posted

'73 Delta 88 convertible, a bit worse for wear in a horrid 80's-style aqua colour with tan top. Looked like it had been that long since a proper restoration.

First Fiat 500 in town, the other night, parked along the street. I was past it before I realized what it was, it was dark after all.

OH, and forgot to mention, a new Nissan work van high top in white with big ol' Enterprise logo on the side, at the rental office.

And I cannot believe how many new Foci I've seen as rentals already.

speaking of AMC's and odd convertibles from the 80's...

DSC00282.jpg

Saw one of these things the other night in sorta a burgundy-ish color. An AMC Eagle Sundancer, top up (Looked to be in a little better condition than this one though)

kinda weird and kinda good looking in some weird way at the same time. and yeah I know they're 4WD, but as a convertible, they're a little too high off the ground for my tastes. If I got one the first thing I'd do is lower it.

Truckload after truckload after truckload of new black 2012 Camaro SS 45th Anniversary convertibles arriving at the Chevy dealer next door to work. Literally, so many identical 'verts, different people were asking about them. Saw one up close today, like the wheels and the 2012 dash changes.

On a test drive tonight, out back behind the dealers, a holding lot FULL of new 2012 Crystal Red Tintcoat Cruze Eco's. Same car, same color, just a full lot of them. Between these and the Camaros, wondering if the Chevy dealer did a fleet of sorts for something.

Commuting, 2 new Hyundai Accents and a base '11 Ford Explorer covered in police graphics, exactly as Roger's pic above.

Followed a new red Fiat 500 Sport down the street to work on Wednesday. Dude driving. Cool little car.

Posted

Saw an early (82-83 I think) S-10 in what appeared to be mint original condition..long bed, high trim level (chrome bumpers, grille, etc), whitewall tires, light tan/dark tan two tone. Don't see early S-10s in any condition very often.

Went lot cruising this afternoon. Saw what was in my opinion the best looking 2012 Focus I've seen yet: Blue Candy SE Sport hatch with black and gray interior, manual transmission, and the black rims. Hmmm.....:scratchchin:

Posted

Went lot cruising last night to the Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler dealer, checking out the GCs, Chargers, Challengers, 300s... lot of tempting options to consider..

Posted

Saw two Murano cabrios, a gold one on the dealer's lot and a silver blue one in traffic...they are, uh...distinctive.

Saw one today, they're an acquired taste, that's fo' sho'.

Posted

Another new Hyundai Accent, silver, on my street. Like every all new small car lately, the second they appear for sale, I suddenly see them everywhere. Looks like a smaller & plainer cheaper cousin to the Elantra/Sonata family, as intended.

Went to a nearby town's twilight car show (4-8PM) and afterwards took a ride down the road to see a classic car & truck dealer's lot... next door to the used car lot was a rundown gas station with a bunch of vehicles (old & new-ish), in a somewhat junkyard like arrangement. All the way in the back was this '70s GMC motorhome that caught my eye:

Sorry for the crapy long-distance shot. I didn't dare trespass on private property for a closer look ;)

Wow..that Dakota is a real WTF?

..saw a very clean 4dr sedan '72 Chevelle today, a bright green w/ dog dish hubcaps..4dr '68-72s are a rare sight, and 4dr ht ones even more so (can't recall when I've seen any 4dr ht '68-72 A-body).

Posted

Saw a slammed, low-gloss '60 Caddy 2dr ht oozing down the street this morning, all shiny chrome and pointy fins..had an old white-on-black license plate, not sure what state.

Saw a medium silver green mid '80s Ford Aerostar panel van (no side windows, barn doors out back) in clean shape. Haven't seen one of those in years, and I remember those back in the day usually in white w/ various livery graphics.
