Using aluminum for body panels and some underbody components, Holden manages to shave 100-200 pounds off the weight of the Commodore. Also some hints about the next generation Commodore

Lighter weight = EXCITEMENT!!!!!!

Amortize the cost via a LWB Cadillac sedan and the small (but always incremental - good for cost dilution) volume of a sporty SWB Chevrolet sedan for NA, perhaps?

This isn't a full redo - they're just taking thee existing car and replacing some steel with AL. Still, shaving a couple of hundred pounds off of it is pretty good.

I'd expect the fully redesigned Commodore to be lighter still.

Wow... its like 1981 all over again. Wonder if they stick with it this time.

Wonder how long before GM porks up the weight lost and the net effect is still a heavier car.

I would still like to see more weight come out but I also know how hard and expensive it can be with out a full redesign. So for now we will gladly take the reduction as a improvement on a already good car.
