GM Named LATINA Style Magazine's List of 50 Best Companies for Latinas

Automaker Makes the List for the 8th Consecutive Year


DETROIT – GM was recognized by LATINA Style magazine as one of the 50 best companies for working Hispanic women in 2005. Latina Style magazine examined more 800 U.S. companies to come up with its eighth annual Latina Style 50 list. GM has made the list every year.

"GM is a dedicated supporter of Hispanic women and their valuable contributions to the country. Latinas are an integral part of our employee, supplier, dealer, consumer and community families,’’ Rod Gillum, GM Vice President for Corporate Responsibility and Diversity . “GM is committed to creating a diverse workforce and we are proud to be recognized for our efforts to provide opportunities for Latinas.”

The LATINA Style 50 Report is the most respected evaluation of corporate America ’s career development opportunities for Latinas. Companies responding to LATINA Style's questionnaire were evaluated based on issues that LATINA Style magazine readers identified as most important to them in the workplace. Among the principal areas of evaluation were: number of Latina executives, mentoring programs, educational opportunities, alternative work policies, child care support, employee benefits, job retraining and Hispanic relations.

"Slowly but surely, Latinas are making progress in climbing the corporate ladder. However, we still have a lo ng way to go to achieve parity,’’ said Robert E.
