MAZDA SALES UP 30 PERCENT IN SEPTEMBER

IRVINE, Calif. - Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported September sales of 18,580, an increase of 30.5 percent compared to last September. Year-to-date sales through September, 2010, stand at 174,770, and are outpacing last year's sales at this time by 9.1 percent (up 9.6 percent DSR).

Mazda's successful crossover SUVs posted huge gains in September. CX-7 reported sales of 2,573 units, up 64.8 percent, while CX-9 posted its best September since 2007 with sales 2,420 units, up 74.1 percent.

The sporty MAZDA3 reported an increase of 28.4 percent with 7,995 units sold, while the versatile and stylish MAZDA5 recorded its best-ever September with sales of 1,109 units, up 70.1 percent. And even as summer winds down, MX-5 sales continue to rise. The sporty two-seater convertible has outlasted competitors for over 20 years, and posted its best month thus far in 2010 with sales of 770 units, accounting for a 53.4 percent increase.

The all-new 2011 MAZDA2 continues to make its way from ports to dealer showrooms and sold a modest 589 vehicles in September. Boasting a sticker price under $14,000, MAZDA2 is a stylish, eco-friendly, fun-to-drive five-door hatchback that offers a dose of Zoom-Zoom others in its class cannot.

Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) reported 6,881 units sold, an increase of 6.0 percent compared to last September. Year-to-date, MCI sales are up 6.0 percent with 62,494 units sold. Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) posted its best-ever September with a 67.0 percent increase versus September 2009, with 1,970 units sold. MMdM also posted strong year-to-date sales of 17,390 units, which is up 39.0 percent versus last year.

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary in the United States in 2010, Mazda North American Operations is headquartered in Irvine, Calif. and oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario; and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.
