Only they are doing a much better job at screwing things up in a hurry....

Paris 2010: 2011 Volkswagen Passat

Volkswagen was so eager to unveil its new Passat that it revealed the car a day before the Paris Motor Show actually begins. It's received the Jetta treatment to some degree, but the softer looks may actually work better on the Passat than for its smaller brother.

The all-new Passat is intended for an older demographic and the styling seems to reflect that. We look forward to seeing it on our shores. Speaking of which, the 2011 goes on sale in the United Kingdom this October and VW plans to announce North American availability in the very near future.

The wagon looks hot, and while the inside remains mostly the same, it's still the best non-luxury midsize interior you can get. Hope the NMS isn't much worse.

I wish Autoblog would stop calling this car "all-new" It isn't. It's a refresh. Greenhouse is the same, the side body panels look the same with the exception of the relocation of the chrome trim. Only the fascias and lamps are substantially different. Even the interior looks about the same.

Volkswagen is classifying it as a new generation. With the exception of the roof, all the body panels are new. The interior is carried over, however.

That is most certainly not a new generation. It's a reskin at best. The Charger is much more all new than this thing is.

Well, tell Volkswagen that. :P

They did the same thing with the 4th generation Passat in the 90s. It was really just a warmed over 3rd gen similar to this just being a warmed over 6th gen.
