I'm considering either the Maxx or the Vibe for my next car.  I have kids and stuff to carry but also want good fuel economy.  At first glance it seems the Maxx would be more comfortable.

What do you owners think???

Don't own either, but get a MAXX

MAXX=GM

Vibe=Toyota :banghead:

:withstupid::Toyota: i must say to get the malibu max, they are accually pretty cool cars, i enjoy driving those new malibus around whenever i got to do stuff at the dealership... pretty sweet car...

my brother has a matrix, and id say dont get the vibe... its a peice of junk...

Expect a lot of interior rattles with the Vibe/Matrix ( noticed it after a ride with an almost new Matrix ). Won't happen with the Maxx, much more solid. And I would lease it.

Just drive them both and you'll settle on the Maxx pretty quickly. Not even in the same league, really.

Maxx, easily. You should be able to negotiate a great deal with little trouble...and, you can get an SS for less than the LTZ model...

if you have the money go MAXX SS!!!!

The vibe i drove my moms a couple of times. It has sporty handleing but is extremely slow from 30-70. lots of engine noise. The Ride is decent. The Comfort is ok unless if your over 6ft tall its very uncomfortable to drive. And no offense guys look rather gay driving them. But not a bad overall car. Parts are very hard to come by for some reason.

The Maxx is Better than the Vibe but not by much. The MAXX has a little stiffer ride but is more comfortable to drive. It doesnt have as sporty of handling but makes up for it in power. If you Get the SS it can do a 20 foot burnout too! Thats really all i know about the MAXX only been in it twice.

Both decent cars but go test drive them. You should find the MAXX more suitable for your needs.

My wife and I got a Vibe for her to drive when we found out we were going to have a baby (my son, who will be 1 tomorrow!) and I have no complaints about the car. We've had it for 16 months now and don't have any squeaks and rattles, though I know others have reported them. Maybe we're just lucky. It's slow, but I like the handling and with my wife (lightfooted) driving it about 90% of the time it gets 26 MPG in the city. I will say this, I haven't found anything child related yet that won't fit in the thing. Got one of those "Little Tykes" turtle sandboxes for a my kid for his birthday and fit it in the hatch without putting the rear seats down. It's also very easy to get a child seat in and out of.

My parents have a Malibu Maxx with the 3.5 V6 and it's a very nice car. Like Capriceman said, handling isn't sporty, but is fairly refined and acceleration is good. Very solid feel. It gets around 19-20 MPG in the city. I don't really think that the interior plastics and switchgear are miles ahead of the Vibe and I personally like the Vibe seat fabric better. I also personally feel it's harder to get a car seat in and out of the Maxx than the Vibe, but I wouldn't qualify it as "difficult" and it may depend on the seat.

I also agree with Capriceman that if you're tall, you'll probably want the Maxx. My wife and I are both short, but I think it could be a real pain to find a good driving position if you were tall as the steering wheel placement is sort of odd.

So, I'd drive both and get what you like.

My family has owned both, The Maxx is our current vehicle for a reason. Doesn't the vibe have the worst build quality of any GM vehicle--maybe I'm mistaken. Vibe has no power compared to the Maxx, but gets about 5mpg more. The seats were a little comfy in the Vibe, however, the room in the Maxx is leagues ahead.

MAXX/MAXX SS. Had it for a few months now, can't complain.

Fuel is great, ride is smooth! Good car for good price!

yeah I drove in a regular base model and the SS. The base is about the same as the Vibe in my opinion. The SS is a little stiffer for a more performing car. The Vibe after a while gets un comfortable to drive. But the MAXX will be more comfortable for a long trip. I would go test them. They are two very good cars for what you want. Both cars aren't the greatest over potholes but, it seems the vibe takes it a little better. But the Vibe has a lot more feed back through the wheel which makes it seem bad. While the MAXX has little feedback through the wheel.

If you live in a climate that snows the Vibe handles well in the snow. I can imagine the MAXX would do good but, I have never driven one in snow.

Maxx.

Unless you're looking for really good MPGs, then you could go with the Vibe.

If you are going to drive it a lot, it is much more comfy than the Vibe. (been in both for long drives)

Plus, you get more toys for the kids to play with in the back...(very nice 8) )

She wants a Vibe, but I'm trying to talk her into aa VUE... 8)

yeah a vibe is a chicks car.

but talk her into a vue REDLINE

I considered buying both of these cars. The Vibe is completely gutless, and lots of owners have complaints of rattles, as mentioned above. The non-SS MAXX has that awful electric steering and wallowy handling. I haven't driven a MAXX SS, but if it drives more like a G6 GTP, it would be the one to get.
