Then Mercury can make a Grand Marquis De Sade sport wagon to compete with it. Studded tires standard.

You say that, Ven laughs, yet Mercury released this photo back in '98...

I've had no problem with those guages. Neither has my family. Rendezvous is one of our preferred rental vehicles.

See, this is what I meant about the gauges being difficult to read. You can barely see the numbers. Albeit I'm not in the actual vehicle, but it's not actually clear lik most other gauges are from a distance.

But they are backlit. When driving, there's no problem seeing them, unless the light is hitting them from behind the car (say during a sunset) but ALL cars have a see-through barrier between the cabin and the IP and that reflects light in those conditions in all cars, making guages hard to read. I really don't think the Rendezvous is predisposed to illegible guages. If someone has a hard time seeing them, they prolly need to get their eyes checked. From the distance of the photo, I would not expect to see individual numbers. 72 point font on IPs in kinda tacky IMO.

Interesting, because I've never had difficulty reading gauges in direct sunset glare from behind in a 2001 ES and a 2003 Accord EX. The gauges are very bright, and easily legible in all lighting.

No one said gauges had to be a 72p font, but no one said they had to be small in general either.

In the conditions I described, it doesn't matter how bright the guages are, the sunlight reflects on the clear plastic barrier and all you get is orange...then again you ARE, what, 6'2"? 6'6"? So maybe you're tall enough to block it out from behind.

I think they should add a "Roadmaster" or "Estate Wagon" option with wood finish on the side.

Uh, that would not be so hot for Buicks change in image. Though making another Roadmaster or Estate Wagon with a killer V-8 in a rear wheel drive form would be.

Got the new Automotive News today and they had a small article on the LasVegas Dealer's Business Conference. The title was "GM Crossovers WOW Dealers". The quote for the yet to be named BUICK was from Buick dealer John Rogin of Rogin Buick "The Buick mid-sized luxury sport 'ute' is a jaw dropper. It is dramatic." Sounds promising.

Yeah, well if it's yet another damn case where we hear "Oh, everybody said WOW!" and then we see it at the launch and go "Huh?", I'll graciously volunteer to help give Buick a friendly push up the river...

Sorry to be so skeptical, but after intros of cars like the Lacrosse (weird proportions, cheap details, and the 3.8), the Lucerne to some extent (also the 3.8, in addition to a frumpy face), the G6 (I think that one explains itself...), and even the new full-size ute's (LOTS of improvements, but glaring absenses, like a fold-flat AND comfy 3rd row), if the new Rendezvous/Centieme isn't finally an example of "Ooh! I gotta have one!!", to the fire with GM.

Then again, we'll all just have to wait and see B) Edited by caddycruiser
