There is no general Topic that has a mixing bowl of everything.

When I went to the show today I noticed that Ford had the most Eye Catching Display. But when I walked through there the only car that really i stoped and sat in was a Range Rover. I dont know if Fords lets make 5 cars and make 15 different names and 3 companies idea is working.

DCX Convinced me that they have no creative designers. Imperial rip off of a Rolls Royce. 300C rip off of a Bently. Challenger rip off of a "Challenger". Id rather own a real '70 Challenger. but there displays was not clustered together and was welcoming.

Audi was blindingly bright. but it was clean. They go down on the list for not letting people sit in the A8.

MB was OK nothing really eye catching or different to me this year. Except the "penis enhancing" SLR. the whole car was good until the long round silver arrow shot out of the car.

At Least you could sit in a 911 Boxster this year.

Toyota and Honda are in the same paraghraph because once again they have annoying sales people runnig up to you. Plus to me I saw plain cars. nothing at all caught my eye. that RAV4 is butt ugly.

Scion gets its own 2 cents here. I didnt even walk into the booth and the lady handed me a hat or somthing and said you won. I knowing I'd never be caught near that waste of sheet metal and the rolling toaster ever in my life, Said "look I would never in my life have anything that said foreign POS automanufactor in my hands or my house". A Union family was behind me all wearing Ford hats applauded and laughed. The Dad came up to me and saw I was holding a GM bag and said "thanks for helping us out" I returned and said "Why wouldn't an American support there own country." He smiled and patted me on the back and left the area. But since i yelled POS out really loud I drew a slight crowd the Scion lady just really caught the wrong person and was panicing. So i Said "Im sorry but I dont like toyota and I will leave now so you can force your Advertisment on some other person."

GM really had alot of people in there display. I heard alot of good and bad things about there cars. Saturn had some people around the Sky. I sat in Solstice before teh public did at a Tech Center show, but I waited 10 minutes to sit in it again. I love it. The ZO6 and SSR are awesome too. I love the Silverado SS now to spent 20 minutes talking with a sales rep about it. as long as i can get 4wd i will think about it. Did anyone catch the "Sky Experience" that was odd that little room. As always GM"s Display was crowded with cars. and no room for people. The Camaro is cool as i allready stated every were elese. Buick had alot of young people around. Pontiac was packed but I hate the G6 vert. Hummer had a line wraped around the H3.

All in All It was a good Auto show. The Bums were horrible if you parked in Joe louis though. I had Fun hope you guys did to.

Post your ideas on the auto show as a whole did you like Cobo's setup was there way to many people there. (OMG THE PEOPLEAGE WAS INSANE) I cant wait to see what NAIAS 07 will bring.

My opinion says the GM had the most intresting setup for the auto show and is really changing there image. I think they will do good this year. (I Hope)

For the most part I had the similar thoughts you had. The majority of the show was no different (mostly with the jap booths, MB, BMW and Audi). What my biggest problem was with DCX was the horrible interior designs. Dodge was by far the worst, pretty amazing for the company that turned around the US auto industry in the 90's due to design. Fords setup was pretty similar to last year.

I did expect more from GM's booth. The last few years they had the 2 story platform that you could walk up and around that had motor and manufacturing info and below it a stage with short shows about the future of GM... none of that this year. I didn't thing it was too cramped with cars though. Seemed like a lot of open space compared to some others. Other than the Camaro concept there was nothing out of the ordinary to draw the masses to their booths.

Funny thing though, is every year the big 3's booths are always packed with people compared to the jap booths, yet they are much larger contenders when it comes to sales.

I liked the show overall. The number of ill behaved little kids annoyed me <shakes cane>, but I got my revenge. :)

I was sitting in the new Escalade and there was this rotten little brat climbing all over the inside. He was pushing, pulling, twisting every button he could find to see what he could break. He climbed into one of the second row captian's chairs and I saw my chance. I quickly hit the "flip and fold" button for that seat. His mother saw it happen but though he did it. Pulled him out of the car and gave him a good walloping. I was in a good mood for the rest of the day.

I chatted with the Ferrari ladies for a little while. I had my Ferarri laptop with me and showed it to them. They acted like it was the coolest thing they'd seen all day.... admitedly they looked pretty bored before I walked up.

I had 3 people ask if I worked for Ferarri during my stops to use the laptop. 1 of them offered to buy the laptop on the spot.

The people at the Volvo display wore those creapy 70s teal blue suits with white shoes. They were nice and knowlageable. We spent a good amount of time going over the XC90. Chas's parents are considering one.

Again there was a woman narrating a Chrysler vehicle as if she was a porn star. This time it was the Crossfire <NYIAS 2004, it was the Magnum>. If I notice it at NYIAS this year, I'll be sure Chrysler does it on purpose.

The Renessance center is very nice, but it's easy to get lost in. You almost need a NAV system to get around.

yeah I forgot about BMW. They are veyr nice cars and have good performance but yet I can never justify the price. Way way over priced. Thats why I wonder what people see in them.
