Yeah, GM needs more people like him, not just in the design studios, but also as every mouthpiece for the company, from the CEO all the way down to the salespeople at the dealerships.

FWIW, here's my two cents on that thread.

Oh, I see where you're coming from on that. I'm 5'7" and it's not the perfect view out of there. I'm sure you'll be able to.. it looks like it'll be MUCH more upright than the 4th Gen..

im 5'7 also, at times i find the view lacking and thats when the power adjustable seats help alot cuz u can move them vertically

Yep, me too. But I can see where someone 5'4" would find a problem..

If more people on this site would pay Scott more attention there would be a lot less arguing about the future of the Camaro and GM RWD car in general.

He is the only insider I trust 100%

Yep, same here.

I like what a lot of "our" insiders have to say on all the products.. but Scott is THE MAN to look for when Camaro rumors surface. I listen to anything he says.

after reading through that link and seeing fbodfather make several comments of "but if it's the fastest/quickest..." I hope they kept the Challenger in mind. At 425hp it if comes in at the same weight, it's going to show it's tailights to the Camaro. Would like to see the Camaro stay around 3500lbs. That's where the current Mustang is at. And the new Shelby Mustang is going to be up around 3800lbs. If the efficiency is there on the Camaro and weight stays down, it has a chance of nipping at the heels of the Shelby Mustang.

a couple of things.....I'm not so sure that weight had a lot to do with 4th gen sales....

.in fact, it could be argued that the 4th gen Fcar was a success....esp. the first couple of years. (add up Firebird and Camaro sales from 1993 thru 1996)

Here's a tidbit: Camaro sales from 1967 thru 2002 captured the same percentage to total passenger car market share over the 35 year history. That seems hard to believe....until you look at the passenger car market which was decimated by trucks and SUVs....

..I think the biggest detriment to the 4th gen was the lack of styling changes......same car for 10 years in a segment where Styling is the number one reason for purchase. (yup....screamed my lungs out to get funding....never happened!)

The car, as I said, will be marginally smaller than a Mustang.....but it must be able to accomodate tall people....(ask Stars1010!)

As to making money.......don't go there......it is not as simple as you think. Suffice it to say that it will be profitable.

Let me ask you this: IF.........the new Camaro could:

>be best in class in acceleration

>be best in class on a road course and autoX

>be best in class in fuel economy

>be best in class in driver comfort

>be best in class in terms of crashworthiness -- five stars all around...........

how important would weight be?

Some great points in this thread made by FBF....

THe answer to his last question: IRRELEVANT. :)
