My present balance is $91 in earnings. GM card is rounding it up to $2000. Last year they rounded us up to $1500 and we helped my brother in law get a new silverado. Unfortunelely vehicles not included are the cobalt, vibe, and all Saturns. These are all most likely purchases for us. Surprisingly the 2007 Tahoe, etc. are included.

Well, I'd never expect a brand new '07 to have a discount like that available already, but after seeing how overtly high they kept the pricing of the Tahoe, once the initial buzz and near MSRP sales falls off, it'll probably be back to like today--the largest rebates of any GM vehicles.

I really expected to go "Wow, they actually priced it right" for once when they announced the '07 Tahoe MSRP's, but instead it was just... :o ...okay...

That being said, they've done this GM card bump up off and on a few times now. Too bad we didn't get the flyer in the mail announcing it one of the last times until a few days after signing the papers on our Suburban. B)

It's not that they are discounting the Tahoe specifically. It's $2000 towards any vehicle except Saturn, H1, V-Series Cadillacs, Saab, and apparently Cobalt and the Kappas.

I don't see how the Tahoe is overpriced. Sure, you can still get it over $50k, but the old one could get over $50k and didn't have near the features of the new one, especially things like NAV and the rear view camera.

You can get a pretty nice new Tahoe for around $44k, which isn't too far from where the old one with the same features would have ended up.

i got my note about this in the mail today. problem is, there's nothing i want from GM for us to use to replace the asstek. No minivans or decent crossovers as i just got a sedan for myself. a malibu maxx or equinox is the only thing that might be worth a look, but the equinox interior is so dreadful, i don't think i could handle it. the CSV's are a cruel joke. if i could settle for a sedan. they should have sent me this 3 months ago before i got my 500. the extra GM card cash might have put me in a GXP GP, G6GTP, or Impala SS.

Why would you not allow usage on the Vibe? Its the Vibe; who cares?

because its not a GM vehicle they dont have any room to discount it 2k... they dont care if that factory is working hard or not...

haypops,

You mentioned that when GM upped the dollar amount on the gm card previously you helped your brother in law get into a new vehicle. My question is would I personally have to have a GM card to quality for the $2,000 incentive or could I use my realtives?

Just curious,

Leland

Your relatives name will have to go on the title. I see no problem with removing it later.

Compare it to the competition. Yes, the new one is MASSIVELY improved over the current/old gen, but the old gen was always quite a bit behind where it needed to be in a lot of regards--but was still priced higher.

That being said, when you can, for example, get a FULLY loaded Durango Limited AWD Hemi (the Tahoe's closest competitor in size) with every option including Nav, chrome wheels, power liftgate, etc., and still be only around $43,610...the very similar Tahoe LTZ with everything at over $50k is overpriced. The base LS 2wd is pretty close to everyone else, at a few bucks under $34k, but even it could stand a couple grand being knocked off--an Expedition or Armada, with much better packaging, is right about the same pricewise.

It'd just be nice if it was "Honda priced", with a start of $29,995 or even $30,995 with NO options, and just max out at $45k. Well, either that, or they're definately going to need incentives after the buzz wears off, because people who buy Tahoes tend to have been past/current Tahoe owners, and they'll never sign the check for anything that isn't in the $30k's or even below...something that has been all too easy to do for many years now with the typical $9-12k discount.

I got a Durango to $43764 and I didn't select all of the options (maybe you didn't get the entertainment system and I didn't get something you got). Anyways, a similar Tahoe would probably be a 3LT 4WD with NAV, entertainment system, sunroof, and a split third row. Pricing came to $47485, which is less than $4k more than (IMO) the far inferior Durango. If I added some more options that the Durango doesn't seem to offer, then it would have gotten rather expensive, but I don't see that many people even opting for NAV, which would bring the price to less than $45.5k.

I didn't check the Dodge, but the price over invoice on the Tahoe I priced was over $4500, so you definetly have some room to deal once the dealers get a big supply of them.
