My "Y" key is broken

Ugh...my Y key on my laptop just broke off, so now everytime I want to press it, I have to fumble around for the little rubber nob that it originally stuck to. Pain in the ass. I'm really tempted to take a tiny dab of superglue and put it back on myself, but since this is a lease laptop, I should probably just do it the correct way and have it taken in to get fixed. You'd be amazed how often you use the letter 'y' and don't even realize it. Oh well, at least another vowel like 'a' or 'e' didn't break off, otherwise I'd be even more frustrated. Ironically, the y key broke off when I typed the word "Camry" in my last post.

Damn you, Dell. I've only had this for a year and a half and already I've had to replace the motherboard, replace the volume buttons, get new rubber feet put on the bottom, and now fix this Y key.

My XPS escape key broke off when it was assaulted by the O.C season 1 dvd that fell onto it during move-out last year at SC...low priority since it is still gone...where do you take it in? We got this one off dell.com, and I really don't think something as minor as a keyboard key should involve shipping or any overnight work on this whatsoever...

The university has it's own laptop repair place for the lease laptops, so I just take it into the guy and he usually has it back by the next day or two. The only time I had to ship it to Dell was last summer when the motherboard died because school wasn't in session. Actually, I didn't even ship it...I just contacted Dell, and then two days later they sent a guy over to my house to fix it since it's still under warranty, so you get pretty much next-day service. I was impressed by that.

hmmm, I've had similar experiences with my Dell too....the rubber feet and the button falling off as well as a replaced wireless card, and now the Bios and battery charger are acting up. I knew getting that 5 year special warranty was a good idea.

about a month ago Sofia got a hold of a full glass of Arizona Green Tea and proceded to pour it into my keyboard. Laughter did NOT ensue.

Even after washing all the components in rubbing alcohol (except for the circuit borad obviously) drying everything off and reaselbly after the fourth time I still had no |A| |S| |tab| & |1| keys. The keyboard is now Sofia's makeshift toy and Staples is $20 richer.
