Hi guys..... I had a mishap over the holidays with the ol'Saab. He met a friend called "guardrail" who stripped him of all dignity. So I'm out looking for a replacement and since the next year is going to be relatively different in terms of motoring needs, I'm considering a fiew other choices.... oh, and I'm also on a tight budget so I need something that can be found under 5 grand. 1. Saab NG900 non-turbo ('94-'98) for the maintenance free aspect of not having a turbo 2. Jeep cherokee 3. Saturn SL2 4. Chevy S10 My dad wants me to get a silverado or an S10 so that we can use my truck instead of his brand new one when we go hunting and fishing and get mine all dirty and full of scratches. I love the indea of having a truck but not a v-8 silverado or any big gas guzling truck for that matter because I do allot of traveling and need something that is relatively good on gas. I love the cherokee and always have, I love the S10 as well because it isnt too big...... I've been dreaming of a diesel powered suv/pickup for a while..... so my question to you all is: What trucks/suv/pickups brands and models in the past and present that were/are offered with a Diesel engine? No I'm not talking about a "Superduty" "Crew cab" "Super Haulin'" v-8 turbodiesel 310 HP monster of a pickup, but rather a smaller I4 or I 6 turbodiesel or something.... The only thing that comes to mind is the Jeep liberty with the 2.4L diesel engine..... something like that but maybe a tad bit older to fit the budget..... sory for the loooong post Edit: not the 9-3 but rather my '89 900 that I hit the guardrail with on my way home due to snow....... the car cost me 1500$ but all the time I have put into it and also gathering an inventory of parts from my past c900 (so now I have 2 c900's that I could potentialy put back together into 1 good one) But because I won't realy have any time for fixing in the next year with me moving out of Toronto soon, I need something totaly maintenance free......or close to it. The Jeep is a 2.8L actually.

But like you said, you're choices are real limited outside the big pickups. I think Isuzu and maybe Nissan and Mazda made a small pickup with a diesel several years ago.

Ther's probably a datsun pickup or something.... with the same diesel engine found in the Maxima? that sixty8 posted.... I looked on autotrader and thers nothing...... probably not many in Canada.... Well, my dad called yesterday and seems that he found a '95 lumina off a GM dealership my neighbor works at for 2 grand...I'll probably end up with that. Edited by TurboRush
