I've always liked fruit snacks since I was a little kid, but we rarely had them because they were always so expensive. Even today, I rarely buy them because you pay $2-3 for a few little pouches that contain like 8 pieces per pouch. I've never understood why fruit snacks are so expensive and why the quantities are so small per package...they must make a killing.

Yup, we as Americans will pay for the "convenience" of all that packaging... individual servings packaged inside a bigger box. I'm guilty of buying stuff that way, too, sometimes... until I compare prices for the same stuff in a large, singe container. I started buying the big 32 oz. cups of yogurt. I just spoon out what I want and add a bit of preserves to flavor it.

I still love fruit snacks to this day. My girl friend is even thoughtful enough to buy my favorite brand (shark bites) and pack them in my lunch for work. Best girlfriend ever... though I sometimes get made fun of for the middle school like contents of much lunch bag.

It depends. At times, it's easier when you have a toddler....

lol pertinent thread. i just got back from walmart and bought a $h!load of snacks in small sizes for the kid for snacks at school.

speaking of fruit snacks, make sure it actually is fruit and not HFCS.

I love fruitsnacks too! I take them to work for lunch all the time. I usually buy the big boxes of Welch's fruit snacks because they are only $1 more and come with either 24 or 32 packages...I can't remember

Am I missing the boat here? What exactly are fruit snacks that cost so much, since I eat lunch out virtually every day (Subway, Safeway deli, local grub places, a salad bar buffet, etc.) Which brands put these out? Also, if they are really expensive, think advertising. A sizable portion of consumer products revenues are cycled right back into advertising and promotions.

Are we including the plastic bagged craisins and diced tropical fruit that re-seals and one can throw into their morning oatmeal? This is the only kind of fruit "snack" I buy.
