Pontiac has long used racing sourced names since the '50s and through today. However, they seem to be abandoning it with the only names left being GTO and Grand Prix, both of which have questionable futures. Of course, Pontiac could return to using them, but could they possibly adopt new ones?

Ones Pontiac has used...

Grand Am
Grand Prix
GTO
Bonneville
Trans Am
LeMans
Formula
GT

Ones used by other manufacturers...

Monte Carlo
Daytona
Sebring
Monaco
Baja
IROC
Grand Sport
Grand National

But are there still ones that could be possibly used? I've had no luck in searching... Any suggestions/ideas? All I can think of is PA's own Pocono Raceway. :D

Talledega? Wait, that was used by Mercury I believe, on a Montego.

"Grand Sport" was a limited edition Corvette, "Gran Sport" was Buick's sporty trim level/package.

Sebring? Wait, that was used by Plymouth I believe, as a trim package on the Satellite. Now of course it's used on the very worthy Chrysler sedan and convertible.

Didn't Chevy use "Indy" as a trim package on the Beretta for a while?

Okay...

So... it doesn't look like Pontiac has much of a chance to introduce another good racing derived name. Looks like they're going to abandon it all together anyways, though... <_<

I just hope they start adding to the 'G' theme... G4, G6, G8... ugh...

I guess any combo of Grand, Fire, Sun, Am, Trans, Bird would work!

I can see it now: The Pontiac Bird Am

What about the Grandfire?

FireAm?

BonneFire?

OnFire? Oh, wait, that's the Fiero...

I think FireAm was actually used by someone. It might have been a proto or an aftermarket company, but I'm pretty sure someone had a customized 70s GrandAm that was called the FireAm.

I like BonneFire or BonneBird for a pink chick version.

Well, uh, there aren't exactly too many new tracks to go with unless you'd like Pontiac to jump back into red-neck games and start calling their cars: Dover Lowe's Bristol Then, you can also have French-connection names and have absolutely zero connection entirely between the two. I don't believe Pontiac abandoned the connection as much as the consumers have. Where's the performance been anyway?
