I like this Pursuit Coupe, looks good. Part of the reason Canadians often get their own unique Pontiac lineup is that Pontiacs sell better than Chevys in Canada and have historically done so. The GTO thing is curious, can't see their reasoning. I bet the new generation GTO will be available across Canada. They would sell very well in rich, young cities like Calgary. Edited by HarleyEarl

The current GTO didn't meet Canada's 3 mph bumper test. It did, however, meet the US 5mph bumper test. Also the Aus plant is working overtime to build 18,000 for the US. It the Canadian sales were just 3,000 it would add a lot more to the overall cost. Remember the Holden Monaro sells less than 1,000 per year.

Anyone remember my chop?

Looks close, eh?

But I can't believe they didn't even bother making new rims for it and just stick Coby SS' on. Posted Image

Again, why bother? (I seem to be using this over and over again lately) It's embarrassing enough that we get it. The Pursuit is NOT what a Pontiac should be anyways. Read: KAPPA SEDAN!!! Edited by ToniCipriani

You know what, Pontiac has too many cars anyhow... they taint the image! Move the Torrent to GMC (and the Terraza from buick to GMC) and drop the Vibe and Pursuit, Pontiac shouldn't offer anythng less than a V6, (Except for the Solstice..) My god, we have the lower end Chevys and Saturn.. if they want a performance division, stop selling crappy vans and econo boxes (especially toyota rebadges) Edited by Cremazie

GM is caving in to hungry dealers while further jeopardizing the longterm health of Pontiac. As a Chevrolet, Delta is fine... Pontiac desperately needs a RWD entry-level car.
Posted
While RWD is great... Pontiac just needs an entry level coupe and sedan below the G6 that ISN'T a clone and ISN'T a "slushbox". AKA... has performance. FWD is fine... Pontiac just needs it.

A Kappa Sedan would be a great i dea, but is it big enoguh, well GM could laways strecth the platform.

Read: Torana Concept. It was proved that it's possible.

It also proved to be to expensive to build at a kappa price point, at the moment.

Well... this is a possible or not question isn't it? I guess they can managed to save some money without the tacky pinkish purple (there's a name for the color which I forgot) neons.

Well, I just bought a new Pursuit SE Coupe. I pick it up next Thurs. Obviously I did give it a test drive. My only beef with it was that it has so-so visibility out the back mirror, with the spoiler sorta getting in the way, but that's a problem with any car in this class anyway. The one I drove was a 2.1 litre 145 hp ECOTEC. Acceleration was smooth, turns were tight, and the ride was quiet. I got a good set of options on this thing for $23 K canadian including power everything, sunroof/moonroof, traction control, ABS, fog lights, MP3 CD player with subwoofer. If any of you are wondering what this car is doing in the lineup, well, Pontiac needs it to compete with the Civic. That is the car the Pursuit was competing with in my mind - I'm a recent college graduate and I wanted a sporty compact coupe, and it came down to this, the Civic and the Cobalt. The Hyundai Tiburon was overpriced. The Pursuit won out due to the superior financing GM was offering, a better look and better value for the price. While there wasn't much difference between this and the Cobalt on the outside, the Pursuit seems to offer a quieter ride with superior noise control. Plus I get the superior brand name for only a few hundred bucks difference in price. The highway mileage is 45 mpg (or 6.7L/100km), I think. This is a worse gas mileage than the Civic base engine, but still good. I'll post again when I've picked up the car and driven it for a few days.

Congrats on the purchase! If given the choice, I too would choose the Pontiac over the Chevy. Can't wait to see some real life pics of your Pursuit! Don't keep us waiting too long...

Congrats. Highway mpg will be around 34-35 not in the 40's that's for sure. Why do you think your getting a superior brand name?

Well, for some reason Pontiac has a superior brand name in Canada. Maybe it's because while the Sunfire and Cavalier were both mediocre cars, the Cavalier was the worse of the pair. But who knows?

Anyway, I've posted pics of my Pursuit Coupe in the sticky thread with the exclusive pictures.

A gallon is a different size in Canada. That's why his gets 45 MPG whereas in the US it would be like 35 MPG. There's no difference really, just that they're rated different because a gallon is a different size in Canada (Imperial Gallon).
