Today's the 14th and if your schedule holds true, you are on the only section of Route 66 that I have ever driven (heading into Kingman). I got a real kick out of this part. There's a big giant green head thing at one part. It reminded me of the Easter Island heads. No idea what it's for. The land changes from red rock, to high pasture, to true desert on this leg. Peaceful and quiet.

Enjoy the ride!

Sounds like a great trip, wrapping up in CA...you're ending in the southern part of the state, quite far from where I live.

Like they say "Get your kicks...on Route 66" - love that stupid old song, as they call out all the cities, and I especially like the documentaries about Route 66.

For me, there is nothing I like more than a road trip in New England/Quebec when the fall colors are peaking (generally maples) or in the mountains of BC or Alberta (when the stands of aspen turn yellow). Beautiful beyond description.

I miss my fall foliage drives in the Colorado high country...I'd go out to Aspen, Telluride, or elsewhere for a weekend jaunt at least 1-2 weekends every year to see the strands of golden aspens quaking in the breeze. Going to go up to N. Az later this month to see how the aspens look here..

Today is the 18th, Cort - so I guess you're making the run between Albequerque an Denver, followed by a hard turn to the right (I-80).

You're adventure is starting to wind down... I hope you had an amazing time, took a ton of pictures, and enjoyed the peace of the non-interstates!
