Three things of interest....coming home from work last night.

First of all... nice 78-79 Olds Cutlass, clean but not showroom clean, silver, decent.

88 Ford Mustang foxbody hatchback, nothing exceptional but not rusted, modded, or destroyed either. These cars have almost disappeared from the road around here.

A Caprice wagon, Maroon, Yellow tribal style flames, with two lime green surfboards on top and 22" wheels...Oh...and a high rise cowl induction hood. Quite the odd car, but it almost half ass worked in a half ass sort of way.

Oh, and make that 4. Really good looking Solstice...white...black top....nicely polished wheels.

Today--a suede black '65 Cadillac 4dr sedan w/ black steel wheels...interesting. And a really clean white '80 Cutlass coupe.

Saw/went for a spin (for the first time) in a Cyclone Gray '06 GTO M6 owned by a guy in Connecticut who was also down to Rocksand Racing in Bethlehem, PA for a suspension check-up. What a ride and I always forget that awesome extra "thrust" from a stick car :AH-HA_wink:

While in PA caught this (Macungie car show day...so there were a LOT of very cool classics roaming the roads):

Then at Rocksand the 9.xx second Rocksand GTO:

And someone else's project beside it:

Then on my way home, a hot blonde in a Stryker Blue Premium/Sport '09 G8 GT followed me out of Wawa in Quakerstown, onto 476 where I first lost her because she wanted to play and went full speed around an on ramp loop and then we continued tagging each other back & forth until the next tolls. Fun. I like her, whoever she is, a LOT :D

Super-disturbing extension of a disturbing trend: mid-90's Wrangler Sahara and late 90's S-10 ZR2... both supposed to be serious off-roaders... both with 20 inch, blinged-out rims and rubber band tires. Dopes.

Caddycruiser: I wish I had been along for that trip!

You had a good car day.

I did. And while my G8 was being finished at the shop and the other guy's GTO pulled in, we were downtown with the owner, on one of his renowned field trips, at the new Sands Casino--that was even more fun. I saw, rode in, chased, etc. more great cars and admired more sites yesterday than I have in a while, and the G8 tag team chase on the way home was a great wrap up.

Further confirming my predicted soon move to eastern PA, well, for that, and other reasons. Or just out of Delaware, almost anywhere for that matter, but I enjoy PA.

Oh...also saw a red '09 ZR-1 up close for the first time on display at the Sands. Yeah, I'll take one, but not in red...killer car.

1970 Dodge Super Bee, it was SWEET and in MINT condition.

Awe...we had one of those, in "'77 Corvette yellow" (I always remember it from my father responding with that when asked) with a white rear stripe and--unchanged--the original green interior that was almost flawless, but never had a chance to convert to black before we sold it. Loved that car, loved how it looked, and loved how it felt, very cool and it was the last one we took to shows.

Cool Gladiator...haven't seen one of those in ages..that's the pre-73 (or 71, not sure what year they changed it) front end.

I haven't seen one of the early '60s Wagoneers with that style front in ages either...they even had a 2dr version (not the same as the Cherokee 2dr that came in the mid '70s) and a panel/sedan delivery style body as well..

Also, ran a service call for work in the middle of BFE. Found not one but two yards with old cars in them.

First Yard...Mostly falcolns, VW beetles, 4 door trash sedans, etc...

But they did have-

An intact 47ish Plymouth that looked like it could drive out of there.

A seemingly "real" B5 blue 70 Roadrunner.

A 60 Cadillac convertible, white with a red interior.

You wonder how cars like the Road Runner and the Caddy ever wind up in junkyards.

Silver looks great on all of them...but on a 66 GTO...WOW!

Neighbor growing up had a 'real" 69 Z-28 with the cross ram manifold and the rear disc brakes and a few of the other "rare" Z-28 goodies. It was Cortez silver, no vynal top, and a blue interior. A little different, but man what a car.

Bet they didn't build many 69 Z's in that combo.

The other car that wears silver well is the 78-El Camino. Saw a really nice one in that salvage yard. Looked clean, which was odd as the plant growth around it suggested it ahd been sitting there for awhile.

Oh, and GM did Porsche one better.

In a 911, it's called "lift throttle oversteer"

In a Z06, it's called "full throttle oversteer"

He can really drive that thing. Believe it or not, that car corners so well that sometimes it goes around the cones on three wheels! That car is a lot of fun to watch...

Amazing how dark metallic blue makes anything look good, from a new Challenger to a 55 Chevy to a 70 chevelle to a Cutty to this.

I just love dark blue cars.

Just saw a young blond driving an Austin-Healey Sprite in yellow, with a roll bar and antique tags.

A couple freeway sightings tonight....a late '70s Ford E-series Club Wagon that looked like it had been painted red and black w/ house paint, had peace signs and stars spray painted on the sides, and 'Sexy Mama' spray painted across the rear doors. Was on a flatbed. Also on a flatbed wrecker was a '90s Eldorado ETC in dark red, looked like it had been in an extreme collision--the front end was crushed back to the B-pillars.

check out what was at super chevy at Atlanta Dragway this past June. Not only is it a Z28, not only is it my favorite color for the 69 model year, its also a 2 owner original cross ram 302. the guy that owned it was kind enough to answer questions and go into detail about the motor. its all numbers matching, however there is a tremec 5 speed in the car at the moment with the factory muncie 4sp at home wrapped up tight. the motor was pulled and rebuilt, bore .30 over and the off-road Z28 cam installed. its now pushing 430hp out of that mighty mouse. the guy said its a driver too and it screams right on up to 140 in no time flat. said he puts between 500 and 1000 miles anually on it.

Love that Z, Cletus!

Chris

yeah he said he almost sold it about 2 years ago but couldnt bring himself to. said that he is glad now cause since is CD's and 401k took such a hit, it will be used to resupply those down the road. i cant imagine the price he would ask for that beast. the cross ram intake alone cost more than a new honda or toyota!

We were camping out in Banff this past weekend and saw at least 10 2010 Ford Fusions (all rentals) as well as 2-3 2010 Mustang Convertibles (also rentals).

The guy in the motor home was towing a Colorado similar to my Canyon so I chatted with him for a bit, and he knew nothing about the truck. He thought it had a six cylinder, and when we opened the hood to show him, we found that his K&N Cold Air Induction air filter had fallen off at some point. Also he had hit a deer with his motor home and cause what he figured was around $25-30,000 damage.

An Impreza with an army camouflage paint job, and then a blue Escort wagon with a bumper sticker that said "Stop Inbreeding: Ban Country Music."

In the office parking lot there was a really striking '97-03 Grand Prix GTP in silver w/ tinted windows and large but tasteful aluminum alloys w/ black spokes. That era GP may have been the best looking of the Ws. Parked next to it---a dark gray G8 GT. Sweet.

Saw a Grabber Blue '10 Mustang for the first time today..love the color..but the gray cladding is tacky...the fascias on the '05-09 were much cleaner. Saw a sharp dark blue 3dr Saturn Astra..don't see those very often.

Saw a wrecked G8 on my way to the race car shop this evening.

I think it tangled with an Audi, looked like a right front hit with suspension damage.

Sitting at an angle just off the road with the flashers on.

Bummer.

Blue Deux Cheveaux panel truck with a local restaurant's ad. On the way up to camp: black and gold, late-model Vega in excellent shape with a molded-in rear spoiler (not a wing). Sounded like a blatty 4 cylinder, but did not have Cosworth livery.
