I saw it this morning. I wasn't going in expecting an epic story the questions the very essence of our being. Really I wanted to see more robots and less people with fight scenes that actually occurred on screen. It didn't disappoint in that area.

The biggest detractors were the "Twins" which were annoying little redneck robots, making more of the characters memorable, and sometimes it was hard to tell what was going on.

Some of the characters were great. Jetfire was a class act grumpy old man. However I think they only said the name of Megatron's superior once, and I missed it. I also don't remember the names of the Autobot disguised as the Corvette concept, the Twins, or the little robot the turns into an rc truck.

As far as plot goes. It's all there, but not told as clearly as it should have been. They didn't explain what Energon was until well after the name first came up. Ratch has no lines in the whole movie. Barricade wasn't there, and a few other continuity errors.

Still, the fights were a lot better this time, and there was a lot more of them, there's plenty of dialogue between the Transformers that pay homage to Gen 1, as well as plenty of symbolic stuff. Which is what I went there to see.

A while back, I decided that Michael Bay didn't deserve any of my money...

I've read his next movie is a reboot of the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' franchise....also read he's working on an ultra-violent remake of 'The Care Bears Movie' (though that might have been in 'The Onion').

At some point in the next decade, maybe Michael Bay will start remaking his own movies--e.g. 'The Rock'--now with 50% more explosions! :)

I just realized...I think I saw the Volt all of one time and I don't remember seeing it transform or in robot mode after that.

Same here. I saw it tonight and loved it. I think its my new favorite movie of all time. As for the volt thing I think it should have been one of the main characters. They need to market the hell out of this thing.

They should have kept Bumblebee as the main kid friendly character. That has always been Bumblebee's role. Either that or have not made the twins such foil mouthed retards, and base them on the Volt and Cruze.

It's GM PR. Enough said.

That's why I never trust movie critic reviews. I loved the movie, and I might go back to see it again, but on an Imax theatre next time.

Id go see it again, but by the time I do that I could just have the money to buy it on Bluray when it comes out. It would be cool to see it on IMAX though.

Yeah, I agree with you too abou the lack of the Chevy Volt character... then I was reading up about the movie on IMDB.com and saw this tidbit of info:

Jolt - A blue Chevrolet Volt. Being an electric car, Jolt's weapons are a pair of electric whips. He was a last-minute addition to the cast as General Motors, the film's car supplier, wanted to promote the Volt. The writers had already wanted to include the car in the script before the Writers Guild strike, so they had to work out a character that would fit well within the Autobot team afterwards and convince Bay to approve the addition. Jolt has very little screen-time in the movie; his only prominent moment being when he uses his electric whips to help Ratchet fix Jetfire's armour to Optimus.

So I guess he was seen in the movie, but unless you knew that info above prior to seeing the movie, you wouldn't know it was Jolt.

I went to see the IMAX version this afternoon. I liked it a lot, but if you do go to the IMAX version, sit in the back. I was in the middle of the theater and it was way too close. Everything is so big it's visually overwhelming and I feel like I missed seeing details I would like to have seen. But it is definitely worth seeing as a summer fun film.

Crowd pleasing Michael Bay extravaganza. Saw it with nieces & nephews & sister-in-law today. Good companion film to the '07 release. I'm hooked on Dippin' Dots. Yum.

Awesome Summer fun.

It's a good movie, but not as great as the first Transformers. It seemed comparable to the pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The first in the series had a magic that couldn't be duplicated.
